“Sadly, not what it used to be”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Sotto Cinque was my Italian go-to local gem for years when I live in the neighborhood. Unfortunately Valentine's Day at Sotto Cinque was a total waste and I will not return.

We were presented with the special pre-fixe menu. I asked if we could order from the regular menu and was told no. Five minutes later, a couple was seated next to us and were given both the regular menu and the pre-fixe menu to order from. Only after I pointed this out we're we given the regular menu.

Ordered a bottle of Prosecco and was brought California sparkling wine. I reminded the server we asked for Prosecco and was told the bottle labeled California Sparkling Wine was Prosecco. (Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine).

I ordered the lobster ravioli and my husband had the chicken parmigiana. Both were served cold, the spaghetti was extremely "al dente" and the sauces had no flavor at all.

The only thing that did not disappoint was the chocolate cake dessert.

I do not recommend this restaurant to anybody for any reason. Bad food & bad service.

“Tasty, affordable, fantastic evening!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013 via mobile

Fresh ingredients; interesting and vegetarian menu; pretty, candlelit space; prompt, warm and genuine service - all for good prices! Loved our spinach tortellini, pasta primavera and tiramisu, washed down with Italian Pinot Grigio. Definitely recommend!

“High Quality Italian Food for a Very Reasonable Price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

We came here for Valentine's Day and really enjoyed ourselves. The caesar salad was excellent, as was the fried mozzarella appetizer. The tomato and mozzarella salad was about average, and our rigatoni a la vodka was not as hot as it should have been. However, the tomato sauce is fantastic, which really makes or breaks an italian restaurant. The chicken parm was very good too, and the vodka sauce was nice and creamy. We also ordered a tartufo and canoli for dessert, both of which were excellent. The atmosphere is definitely upscale, and the food quality is pretty high. However, the prices were not. Pasta dishes range from $9 to $13, chicken dishes are $15, and veal dishes are $19--at least a few dollars cheaper than most other upscale italian restaurants in the neighborhood. No complaints on service, and the ambience was very nice. Overall, we had a great meal that seemed like an even better value. We will definitely return.

“Excellent Meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

Went to Sotto for lunch on Friday Jan 25th and was pleasantly surprised at the reasonable and delicious lunch menu. The portions were large and the service was very good. The food server (a gentleman) was especially attentive. We will definitely return!!!

“First visit to Sotto”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

This restaurant was recommended by a friend that lives in NYC. We enjoyed this restaurant very much. Very friendly upon arrival and immediately taken to a seat without a reservation. Our dinners were delicious. Price for NYC was extremely reasonable. Will definately come back to dine on our yearly visits.
