“A fine Tribute to the men and women of NYC who served in Vietnam.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2012

A beautiful site and a fine tribute to the 1,741 brave men and women of our great city who gave their lives so this could be a better place.

One of the more interesting charactistics of the plaza is the recurring sounds of the helicopters landing and taking off from the nearby heliport. An especially appropriate background for a Vietnam Memorial.

“A beautiful memorial and surrounding area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2012

We arrive in lower manhattan for a vist to a number of interesting sites that are rather close together. The Battery Park with views of the statue of liberty, and Frances tavern where George washington had his farewell dinner with his officers after the war, and the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Plaza. It is a beautiful green glass block memorial with excerpts from letters home from the front line troops in Vietnam. The words are very moving and the plaza is very pleasing to the eye. there is a large map of all the battle sites, a beautiful sitting area and bio tributes to Medal of honor recipients as well as a tribute to the youngest soldier killed in Vietnam 15 years old, as he fudged his birth certificate so he could join the US Marines at the age of 14. The plaza in near a hepiport on the east river and with the choppers coning and going, I imagined as we all closed our eyes that that was a sound often heard over the battlefields of vietnam.
from there you can walk up water street to the South street seaport, or go to stone street( the first street paved with stones in NYC) for great food , bars and adrienne's pizza YUM!!

A memorable tribute to our Vietnam Veterans. The walk of honor is especially moving. The plaza is a very contemplative space.

“A Fine Tribute of New York and the Nation's History”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2012

This memorial a wonderful tribute to the men and women who served and died to keep America great. The plaza that surrounds the memorial is a wonderful place to relax while reflecting on the past, especially when trying to find peace in the hustle and bustle of NYC. There are beautiful flowers and a fountains surrounding the memorial. In addition, it is also located next to one of the largest office buildings in the country that has an elevated acre park with beautiful views of the East River and Brooklyn Bridge. Nearby, on Stone Street there are wonderful places to have a bite to eat inside or outside when the sun is abundant. I recommend this as a "Must Visit" while in NYC. Enjoy!
