“Real family style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Happened upon Tony's late afternoon Easter Sunday and didn't think we'd have a chance getting a table - 40 minutes wait they said. 15 mins later and we were seated in the busiest restaurant I've ever seen! Service wasn't compromised by this and before long we were eating generous portions of home-style Italian food and thoroughly enjoying it. The place had a real buzz and I'd recommend for big groups/families for a great get-together.

“Best find and DELICIOUS!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Business trip, with Canadians...they wanted Italian, so we stopped in...hesitant because it was served family style, but BEST CHOICE we could have ever made. Sangria was amazing, 2 appetizers MORE than enough for the 5 of us, and 3 dinners...waitress was super helpful in helping us "organize" our food selection. Best of all, with sangria, bottle of wine, and some beers, the bill was still under $225!

Will go again!

“First Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

We recently stayed in NYC for four days. Our hotel was located near Times Square so Tony’s was a convenient first foray into NYC restaurants and we booked a table before we flew. First impressions: very popular / lively (new Yorkers love to eat out we quickly found), quite dark, more upmarket than I expected - definitely a nice place to eat. Service was very good: our waiter patiently explained that portions were extra large so we shared a pasta meal; otherwise it would have been a case of rolling home! The pasta was delicious with a lovely sauce. We bought wine by the glass - there was a good choice - it accompanied the pasta meal and salad excellently. Tony's was our first and least expensive of four NY restaurants so I would say it scores highly for value, and overall we would strongly recommend Tony's - but make sure you book before you go - it's clearly very busy at peak times.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

Food was brilliant, service was fantastic, prices were good for the value you were getting, a lovely restaurant.

Great for couples, but I would recommend for a group as well, the food would be great for sharing.

“Good stuff, but order less than you think you need”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

Excellent food and excellent ambiance, but the portions are huge. The menu and the waiters do kind of warn you. They tell you a platter serves 2 to 3 people "family style." But our party of four (that included two growing teenagers) had an appetizer, and two main courses and took most of one main course home with us. After we finished, and regretted having no space left for the great looking desserts, we decided the optimal strategy for a party of 4 would the this: Order an appetizer and a salad and one platter. After that, if you're still hungry, you can order something else. But we doubt most people will be.

The eggplant parm was exceptional.
