What is the similarity between Irish bars and Thai restaurants? They try to be something which they are not in their original setting. Generally, Irish bars anywhere else than Ireland are just not Irish, and Thai restraunts, similarly, are just not Thai.
That does not apply to the Montien Thai!! I have a son and grandchildren in Thailand and travel there twice a year and eat at many differnt Thai restaurants, where simplicity is the name of the game.
Montien Thai has that simplicity and also very good food. The pepper and chilli dry spare ribs and the steamed fish with rice were excellent each time I have eaten them there and it is good to be able to get a decent beer (Singha, plus other oriental alternatives) for a reasonable price. My meal above with a couple of beers came to $50 inc tax and tip.
Best value/quality in NY.
