I've been a New Yorker for years and while we are spoiled for choice in terms of restaurants, every once in awhile one comes across a treasure such as King's Carriage House. A friend of mine wanted to take me to lunch and I said, "surprise me" and he certainly did!
King's Carriage House is a charming restaurant on two floors in an old carriage house on the east side of NYC in the low 80's. It is a beautifully appointed restaurant (Irish Georgian) and the food and service are equally exceptional.
The selections on the menu are varied and all the items we had that day, from starters through dessert were beautifully prepared and presented. The wine list is also very well-chosen with a variety of choices at reasonable prices.
The owners, Paul Farrell and Liz King are charming and clearly love what they do and make you feel very much a guest in a small inn. We had a very leisurely lunch and I commented to my friend that it was so special that I felt I had been away on vacation in Europe.
There a lots of good restaurants in NY but King's Carriage House is very special. It is not to be missed!
