“Old-fashioned gem in cool NYC”

West Eleventh Townhouse

We could not have asked for a better room or location. We were looking for an old-fashioned, charming, spacious, comfortable but reasonably priced place to stay in the coolest part of the city and the Marcucci Apartment delivered on all counts.

It was a pleasant surprise to wake up to the smell of cupcakes from the well-known Magnolia Bakery two doors away, and we also made full use of the fashionable and moderately priced restaurants/bistros in the Greenwich Village/Meatpacking District vicinity.

We would certainly stay again but would perhaps hesitate before recommending it to our friends - we don't want everyone going there!

“A great place to stay”

Stayed here for two nights. A fabulous place - clean, comfortable and well appointed. Convenient location, close to great places to eat - and very safe neighbourood. A great rate for New York!

Room spotlesslessly clean. Hosts congenial and very helpful.

Would definitely stay here again.

“Great place, but don't be misled ...”

We stayed in the Leonardo Junior Suite. We are generally in accord with previous very positive reviews, but had expected two things to be different.

First, although there is a fridge and a coffee maker, there are no dishes or cutlery, so this is not a place to have take-out or delivered meals, cook food, or even to have breakfast. There was no microwave as descibed on West Eleventh's website.

Also, the website description of the "extra-thick plush mattress" was not really accurate either. When I first lay down on our mattress my surprised reaction was "ouch! this is really firm and unpadded." Quite a contrast with the desciption I read. Still, it was better to sleep on than a sagging worn out mattress. (Just misleading.)

Follow-up to our preceding comment:

Oops! Even though our comments were strictly speaking correct, we did not realize that in the "about us" section of our website we do state that all our accommodations have a microwave and a "plush-thick mattress"; in fact only our three full apartments offer these features, but not the Leonardo Junior Suite; the user's comments about the other items still stand corrected.

We are in the process of deleting "microwave" and "plush-thick mattress" from our "about us" section of our website as it concerns the Leonardo Junior Suite.

Thank you.

“Best Location in Manhattan”

West Eleventh Townhouse

Stayed recently in West Eleventh for 3 nights. My favorite area in NYC.....in the Village, but on one of its quieter streets. A location for people who want to share being in a true New York neighborhood. Turn right or left out the front door and you've found Manhattan living at its best. My room (large, high ceilings, with bed and kitchen alcoves) was at the back, overlooking garden areas which will be increasingly handsome with warmer weather. I could never have imagined such a quiet night's sleep in NYC. Try also to chat with the owners who live on site......very pleasant and knowledgeable about the area, which they love.

All the comforts of home and none of the anxiety of imposing on a relative.
Hercules and Therese couldn't be more friendly and accomodating. The Monet apartment, perfect for two, was clean and light and comfortable.
The bed was the best I've slept in away from home.

The neighborhood is my favorite and to have anything you need within a few blocks is perfect. We spent little time in the cozy apartment as there was so much outside to see and enjoy.

There is no elevator - so be prepared to carry up and down whatever luggage you bring, but it was a small price to pay for the wonderful place.
