I have just returned from staying 3 nights with my Mum in the Marcucci apartment - we loved this place.
There are lots of lovely places to eat nearby - we particuarly liked the Bus Stop cafe and you have loads of great boutiques and independant shops on your doorstop.
The Marcucci apartment has one large bedroom and a smaller bedroom too - perfect to get back to at the end of the day and a small kitchen & bathroom.
Silvia who checked us in is great and gave us lots of useful tips as well as booking us a very reasonably priced car back to the airport.
In other reviews, a few people have commented on the stairs and 'rules' - please don't let this put you off:-
The apartment is located up 3 flights of stairs but this really isn't a problem and as the famous Magnolia bakery is only steps from your front door, we saw this as a benefit to work off the cup cakes!
Yes there are a few groundrules but nothing out of the ordinary and you are staying in an apartment not a hotel - this suited us perfectly but if you do want a full hotel service rather than your own place then maybe this isn't for you.
In summary - this place is great and we will definitley return.

We stayed five nights in the El Greco Apartment in November 2008 when visiting NYC for my wife's birthday. We chose this apartment after reading reviews for numerous accommodation options and we were really pleased with our choice.

The location was excellent. After long days doing the tourist trail it was so good to return to the relaxed neighbourhood where there was complete peace and quiet at night but where you could walk to so many excellent restaurants or bars in West Village, Greenwich Village, Meatpacking District or Chelsea. During the day, it was 5 minutes walk to the subway so getting anywhere in Manhattan was quick and easy.

The apartment was fitted out with everything you might need although I have to say that I feel it is better suited to 2 rather than 3 adults (or maybe a couple and a child). It was a bit of a hike up the stairs with the luggage but that is only at the start and end of the holiday so no problem. The photographs of the El Greco apartment are reliable - you get what you see - and the reception and 'rules' session was absolutely no problem. We were in and completed, payment sorted etc within 10 minutes and Silvia was very welcoming, bringing us champagne for my wife's birthday.

The first night of our holiday we stayed at the Hotel Chandler - 5 minutes walk from the Empire State and although we enjoyed the hotel, we would definitely re-visit West Eleventh on our next visit.

This was my husband and my first visit in New York City and we had the best visit. West Eleventh proved to be a very comfortable and safe place to stay. Our accommodation in the Leonardo suite were quite nice, it did take a little getting used to the nuances of life in a historic brownstone. Having great accommodations in the heart of Greenwich Village was the cherry on top for us. When we visit again we will most definitely stay there again.

The biggest decisions we had to make while planning our trip to New York was where to stay at a reasonable price. We are in our late 40's (one of us turned 50 while there) and wanted a cIean and comfortable place in an area that would give us a feel for what it would be like to live in New York. I visited the New York forum on tripadvisor and one of the places I was recommended to was the West Eleventh Townhouse. We booked well in advance of our trip as this place fills up quick. It was excatly like the pictures on their website. We loved the accommodations we stayed in the Leonardo Suite. The bed was extremely comfortable and our room was cleaned and the linens and towels were changed everyday. If you truely want to get a good New York experience, I highly recommend West Eleventh. It is located in a lovely neighborhood and my hubby and I felt very safe, with your pick of good restaruants just a short walk away. I really appreciated everything being so close after a tiring day of site seeing. In the morning we would get up and walk to the corner store to get fresh coffee and a bagel, they also have a great deli where they make fresh sandwiches. My hubby and I had never stayed anywhere but at hotels before and were not sure what to expect. What a great experience we had with West Eleventh, it was everything we wanted and expected it to be. It was so nice to come home after a long day of shopping and site seeing to peace and quiet. The subways are within walking distance but if you are cabbing it the fares are resonable to get home from most places in the city. Silvia, the roving concierge was very helpful in every way. Everything that was arranged happened when and where it was supposed to. There was no suprises at all. Thanks again to all the West Eleventh staff and the proprietors Mr and Mrs. Kontos's for making our trip to New York so memorable.

We have just returned from a pleasant stay in the Monet apartment. Our holidays started with a warm welcome by Silvia. Her service was very good. The Monet apartment has all the facilities that we wished: spacious, clean, good furniture etc. The neighbourhood has character and is an oasis in busy and turbulent New York. Many good restaurants, a variety of shops in Bleeker Street, a grocery around the corner in West 4 th., a bakery at the corner Bleeker Street and one with delicious breads in Hudson Street (ideal for a real Dutch breakfast). At the end of our exciting and inspiring week in Nw York Silvia arranged a limousne to J.F.K. Airport
