Thorougly enjoyed the Marcucci apartment at West Eleventh ... the townhouse is in the heart of the Village and is a charming place to wind down at the end of the day. Kitchen and bathroom small, but adequate.

The service was lovely and not intrusive, and the matress on the King Bed in the large bedroom was super comfortable. Great little bookstore on the corner, and restaurants nearby are wonderful.

Much prefer apartment living to staying in a hotel in New York ... accommodations are more personal, comfortable and authentic than in a hotel.

I'll be a regular at West Eleventh from now on.

My daughter and I stayed here over Christmas 2007 and were delighted with West Eleventh. It is located in a wonderful old house right in the heart of the west village but so quiet and peaceful once inside that it is hard to believe you are in NYC. Although we knew the house was full on booking, it felt like we were the only guests. Right from the start, our hosts Therese and Hercules could not have been more welcoming and helpful. we stayed in the spotless, airy and well equipped Caravaggio Apartment which overlooked the garden and was well stocked with guide books and list of recommended places to eat nearby. We were presented with a gift bottle of champagne on Christmas eve and invited to share brunch with our hosts on Christmas morning. The walls of the house are lined with original art works collected by Therese and Hercules on their travels. These really interesting people who so generously treated us to their hospitality helped to make this visit to New York a happy and memorable one. I would highly recommend a stay at West Eleventh.

What can I say....the location is perfect. Steps away from the Maganolia Bakery and other fantastic shopping and dinner spots in the village. The townhouse is not only charming but clean and cozy! I stayed in the Monet Room and it overlooks the most lovely courtyard. Don't forget to have a croissant at Tartine just down the street.

Amazing property but it was like visiting an aging aunt whose house was full of fine bone china. As a result I couldn't stand or sit without being paranoid about breaking something, or making too much noise.

The location of the venue is divine as is the room itself. However, beware if you are booking into this place. There is no reception and as such getting in involves a complex negotiation with someone who does not live at the property. Then there is the incredibly detailed and slightly odd explanation as to which key does what. "You put this one at 3 oclock and put the key 70 % in the lock".....enough said!

Then there was that 'odd feeling' nothing you could quite put your finger on....'am I wearing the right clothes, have I got the wrong accent, do I look too young'.....

If you are looking for a place to relax, I suggest you find a chic little boutique hotel or another b and b. Alternatively, find another b and b where the welcome is warmer than a cold winters day with a north atlanic gale blowing through.

My partner and I had hoped that this would be the climax of a lovely stay in New York and whilst the location and charm of the Leonardo suite were excellent, we felt disappointed by the service and accused wrongly of making noise and causing a mark on the bedcover quite unjustly. Whilst Sylvia realised that we couldn't have been to blame, the fact of sharing the ground floor with the owner made things seem as though we were in aboarding house rather than a luxury B and B (a major issue being made of how exactly the communal door should be locked). That being said, the location and facilities in the room were fine but I'm afraid I am unable to recommend this particular place to friends. Maybe it was because we were relatively young.
