“Unpretentious bistro, relaxing atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

A great place if you are looking for a relatively laid-back atmosphere to have a nice glass of wine and some mussels (everyone agreed they were the best thing we ordered). It was relatively quiet on the night we visited, service was not rushed, and the food was pretty tasty. I would likely make a return visit - the location is good too at the corner of Madison and 37th. Value is reasonable for a French restaurant as well.

“Good French restaurant in Manhattan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

We had lunch at Madison Bistro last week and were equally pleased with food and service.
Good selection; tasty and well presented food. Portions size just right.
I’d recommend “Le Bourguignon” Braised Short Ribs, and desert - Coconut “Blanc Mange” Plum Compote. Both were exceptional.

“A great French bistro near 42nd st.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013 via mobile

Madison bistro is a great French resturant that has food for any palette. The mussels and fries are the speciality along with steak.
Mouthwatering
Enjoy

“Rude service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2013

Food was adequate, but menu selections limited. For example, tuna Niçoise salad was served with salmon because "they didn't have tuna in that day." Salmon portion was very small. Service was slow. When it came time to settle the check, they wouldn't do separate checks "because it was a hassle." This message was delivered curtly even though we were asking for only two checks. Won't go back. EVER.

“Small causal french bistro serving decent food without pretention.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013

Small causal french bistro serving decent food without pretention.
We were the second table on Father's day. Prix fix menu was reasonable priced and had good selections. Portion size was adequate and fair to good food.
One surprise was when ordering the baked chicken as the principle plate, we were told the only other table had the last one. This was 6 PM on Father's day and to only have one baked chicken, the chef must have been sleeping on the job.
