For a nice stroll, go when the sun starts to go down, bring a drink, and enjoy the scenery or one of the musicians

“The high line was a highlight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

Definitely recommend walking the high line. We did it as part of a tour of the Chelsea Market which gave some good background history of the high line. It was a lovely stroll through some beautiful nature and gives a different view of the apartment buildings in the meatpacking district. Some good photo opportunities along the way

“Wonderful place to stroll ABOVE street level noise and hubbub.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

3 great things about HIgh LIne Park: architecture, landscaping, art.

Because this park is above street level, not only do you get clear of the noise and bustle, BUT you get a much better view of the buildings. Whenever I go to NYC I'm always entranced by the architecture. This place lets you take it in along the stretch of the park. (One building has the most unique array of random sized windows.)

There are a number of places to sit. The landscaping is beautiful, from the grasses and flowers to the benches that are patterned after the boardwalk.

I've been to the HIghline twice. It started raining the first time, a few years ago, and was fairly new. Now there is much more of it to enjoy.

The only drawback is that the shaded areas are sparse. On a hot or rainy day, you need to be prepared with sunscreen/hat/water combo or umbrella. There ARE places to sit but in varying degrees of availability - solitary benches here and there in some areas; ample seating in others.

“A little forgotten place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

We kind of stumbled on high line but very glad we did. It is a walk but runs along the old railway that went through NYC I think.
Great views of course as it is high up. The walk is well built so looks good lots of seating areas and cafes at the beginning.
Look forward to going back so we can see better

“Nice walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

My husband and I took an evening stroll along the High Line before an improv show. It is a unique experience and excellent re-purposing of an old train line. I wish we had more time to return and talk a different section during the day. Definitely recommend if you have time for a stroll.
