“Great hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed for 6 nights in May in a party including me, my wife and our two daughters aged 12 & 9. I booked a junior suite and requested the hotel put us on the highest floor that they could accommodate for this type of room. On arrival our bags were collected from our limo transfer and check was quick, they had a note of my email request and advised that they had placed us on the 17th floor.

The hotel is in a great location, this was our first visit to New York and I almost booked a hotel in Midtown (Times Square region). A friend of mine who had been a few times suggested booking a hotel just outside of this area as he said it was very busy, nice to visit but maybe a little too busy to stay in. I found Midtown East to be an ideal location, lots of bars and restaurants to choose from locally and within walking distance/a short cab ride from Midtown's many sights and shopping areas.

The Junior Suite was great as it was very large with two Queen sized beds and a seating area, a must when there are four of you staying in a room. The decor was nice and modern and room never felt crowded even on the night we decided to stay in and get a take away, as we were all too tired to go out for dinner! The bathroom had a small bath tub (great for soaking those aching muscles after a day sightseeing!) and over bath shower. The real gem was the kitchenette in the room, this was a separate room approximately 2m x 2m with a stove, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge with an icebox. We went to the local grocery store on our first day and got some drinks to out in the fridge and some bread and butter for toast on the morning when we had to get up and out early.

In terms of noise in the room, New York is a noisy place! I heard it on the first night but I think this may be as much to do with the time difference waking me early. The remains nights were not really an issue, but we were on the 17th floor.

The wine hour is a great idea and lack of internet in the rooms is not a huge issue as you can pop down to the lounge to get online, I kind of liked this as it meant we didn't all seen our times on our devices when in the room.

Staff were friendly and Lenney and the other doorman were very helpful and always on hand to offer advice.

All in all I would definitely recommend this hotel, however it is the only hotel I have stayed in in New York so do not have anything else to compare against...

Room Tip: Breakfast place a couple of doors down is great, Cornerstone bar on the corner of 2nd & 51st has...

We met up with family from all over on this trip. We had two rooms at this wonderful hotel and one room at another beautiful Affinia property. Wow! They were all much more than we expected!! Starting with being greeted by Rome at the front door ("welcome home"), Yvette at check in and Danielle at your welcoming, fun wine hour, we couldn't have asked for more. We were celebrating 3 birthdays and came back one evening to cupcakes in our room! The rooms were beautiful, (really, a balcony and a kitchen, in New York?? Awesome!) and everyone was very generous with suggestions for our stay. We will definitely stay here again! Can't wait!

Room Tip: We were pretty high up so New York noise wasn't an issue. Ear plugs are in the night stand drawe...

We booked two rooms at this hotel for a girls weekend and we were not disappointed! We arrived early on Saturday and were greeted by Eduardo. Our original rooms were not ready yet so they offered to hold our bags so we could start exploring the city or upgrade our rooms to slightly larger rooms, with kitchenettes, that were immediately available for an extra cost. He even showed us the rooms first so we could decide. We took the upgrade because it came with free Wi-Fi and the extra room was nice having 3 women in one room. I had always heard rooms in NYC were tiny but these were very nice. They came with a kitchenette with a small refrigerator, a microwave and a hot plate. It was nice to be able to go to the grocery store (located just 2 blocks away) and have breakfast food available for the mornings. The hotel is in a great location, quick walk to Rockefeller Center and Times Square plus there's a subway and bus station within 2 blocks that took us everywhere we needed to go. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and they have full shampoo, conditioner and shower gel inside the shower! None of of those tiny hotel bottles to deal with. When we first checked into our rooms we could hear talking in the halls and I was afraid the hotel would be noisy, with other guests walking the halls and closing doors but I never heard a peep out of anyone! It was so quiet and we all slept great! Best thing about this hotel? They offer a gratis wine hour every day from 5-6 in their common area. It was fantastic wine and it gave us an hour to re-group and decide on our evening plans. When it was time to check out they held our bags and arranged for transportation to the airport. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would definitely stay here again!

I enjoyed everything about the Fifty. Great location, super people, superior room and services. I couldn't have picked better for my first trip to NYC. We stayed in a junior suite so had a kitchen. The resturants nearby are excellent too.

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with the junior suite.

I could not have tailored a better experience had I been asked to. While the rooms were nice, and the view from our room wonderful - what really set our stay apart was the customer service offered through the accommodating staff. We did not see a frown or hear a negative word the entire time of our stay.

We also loved wine hour and how well-attended it was by all the hotel guests. The location was also perfect. We were within walking distance of almost everything we wanted to see and do.

We normally stay in Hilton properties when we travel, but will be staying at Fifty every time we come to NYC from now on. Our stay was absolutely phenomenal.

Our group of 6 arrived late morning on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Eduardo greeted us and checked our reservation. Since it was so early, the reserved rooms were not yet ready. We were going to leave our bags with the bellman, and go out to explore, but Eduardo checked his inventory and offered us an upgrade to a kitchenette room for an additional $40 per night per room. He even took us up to look at the rooms before we decided. So, after inspecting both rooms, we agreed that the upgrade was worth it in terms of space and amenities. Even had free wi-fi included as part of the on-site upgrade. Best of all - immediate availability!

The rooms were kept clean and fresh and the addition of the kitchenette meant we didn't have to go out for breakfast, or eat expensive continental breakfast during our three night stay. Our room was large enough that there could have been a small dining table and a couple of chairs to enjoy dining. And since there were 3 of us in one room, it would have been nice to have one more chair.

We enjoyed the beds and feather pillows - the room (814) was plenty quiet and dark with great blackout shades, so it was very restful after lots and lots of sightseeing. The temperature control valve in the shower was challenging - seemed to be either too hot, or too cold. Just be patient to set your temperature.

And the wine hour was exactly what we needed after a long day out and about. The common areas were really nice for gathering and making plans for the next bunch of activities.

Room Tip: Room 814 was very spacious, with a kitchenette and quiet. No view, but that's why it's quie...

My daughter and I had weekend here in April, after checking reviews on TripAdviser. Great location, large room facing Fiftieth, compact bathroom. Friendly and helpful staff, breakfast was very good value, and daily happy hour was very nice? Only complaint was the frequent banging of doors...perhaps some lining would help. Will definitely stay again.
