Description: Here at 133 Mulberry Street, Ristorante S.P.Q.R. has been created in the heart of New York's Little Italy as a monument to Italian cuisine. Over two thousand years have passed since the time of Romulus. The initials S.P.Q.R. are still today, a monogram in Rome and can be seen throughout the beautiful acient city. The Arches, gateways to Rome, bear the inscription S.P.Q.R. and give a feeling of warmth and welcome to the traveler upon entering the city. It is with great pride that Ristorante S.P.Q.R.-Senatus Populus-Que Romanus uses this monogram. Just as the Senate and the poeple of Rome welcomed friends, travelers and countrymen, Ristorante S.P.Q.R. welcomes you to enjoy a truly fine dining experience.

“Good Food But Small Portions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

This is a very nice restauranr. Good service and good food. However, for the prices that they charge the main courses are small. So you need to have dessert if you are still hungry after the main course. Desserts are also not cheap.

“Looks nice but there are better options”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Among the multiple Mulberry Street restaurants in Little Italy, SPQR wins the street-side battle. It looks elegant from the sidewalk. However, the food is average at best and the wine and service could be better. There are better options along Mulberry Street - don't be fooled by the decore.

“Pleasant surprise on Mulberry Street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

In the city for our annual December shopping trip and we always go to Chinatown and stop in Little Italy for lunch. This year, we got a recommendation for S.P.Q.R. and decided to try it. The restaurant had classy Christmas decorations and the inside is very spacious, unlike many of the restaurants in that area. Dark hardwood floors, white linens and tables with plenty of room between them. The service was good and our waiter was very accomodating to 3 women with special food needs...of course! I'm on the wheat belly diet, so I had a tossed sald and two meatballs for my entree. The salad was large, with a variety of lettuces and vegtables and just the right amount of light dressing. The meatballs were fabulous; some of the best I have had and very filling. Another gal had the clams linguine and loved it. We're pretty particular abut our food, so I'm giving this a very good rating for both the food and the service. It's so much better than the other restaurants in Little Italy that we have visited. We'll be back next year.

“Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

After spending the day in the city, my husband and I decided to go to dinner in Little Italy and found SPQR. It was a beautiful summer night, so we decided to sit outside. I don't usually like to sit outside at places in the city, sometimes the waiters tend to forget about you, but that didn't happen here. There was always someone around, which was nice. The food was delicious, fresh, not overly spiced but not bland either. The prices were not bad for Manhattan. Service was quick but not rushed.

The one drawback was, and this is of no fault to the restaurant, was that we chose a seat next to the roman statue outside. Apparently, this statue was used as a landmark for a meeting place for tour groups of high school tourists. Apparently, this statue was somewhat of a photo opportunity for these kids, and these kids had no manners at all, bumping into my husband, asking us to take pictures of them, etc. A waiter finally came out and told them they needed to move and leave us alone. So just don't sit by the statue outside.
