“Almost Like Being in France”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

Enjoyed a great brunch at La Bergamote. Although we were a large party (7 people), we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Once seated, the service was prompt. First the coffee - really good, strong European coffee - loved it! Not sure what others are complaining about there. Today it was excellent. I had scrambled eggs with wild mushrooms and a side of mixed berries; others in the group had Croque Monsieur, smoked salmon with creme fraiche on brioche, baked eggs and steak sandwich. Everything was very tasty. The pastries looked fabulous, but, sadly, will have to await a future visit. It's a charming little cafe with pressed tin ceiling and marble tables. Lots of charm and ambiance.

“Upscale French Bistro in Chelsea - Great Pastries”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2013

La Bergamote in the Chelsea section of Manhattan has some of the best pastries you will find in New York. They do a nice French breakfast ( French patisserie, fresh bread, sandwiches and salads) but the cappuccino can be a bit sketchy (depending on who makes it). One day it's great, and the next, not so good. On the other hand, the almond croissants are to die for. Pleasant atmosphere, but also good for take-away.

“Solid French Bakery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

Having things to do in Chelsea, we were looking for a quick bite for lunch. La Bergamote was highly rated and seemed like the perfect place. Apricot danish and quiche Lorrraine were really excellent. Salami baguette was very good. Pastries in the case looked wonderful. The only disappointment was the coffee - both American and Cafe Au Lait were just OK, and did not reach the standard of the rest of the experience. With great coffee, this place would be a sure bet for 5 stars.

“A taste of la vraie France”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Great selection of French patisserie, bread, sandwiches and salads. Have breakfast with the locals in the small cafe area or create your own picnic for eating out.
