Description: The Cupping Room Cafe was established in 1977. It was originally a wholesale coffee establishment. Different blends of coffee were brewed and tasted by perspective customers. This act of blending and tasting different coffees is called cupping - hence the name The Cupping Room. The coffee tasting went so well that the owners decided to change the name from The Coffee Connection to The Cupping Room Cafe. They also decided to open the back of the store and sell coffee and pie to the local artists. The building hosting The Cupping Room is a landmark building. It was the first "tall" building in SoHo and is more than 100 years old. The high tin ceilings, hard wood floors, pot-belly stove and exposed brick walls are all part of the original setting. The Cupping Room was a home for artists and locals. Today it is still a neighborhood place where you can see the locals and the famous come together in our homey environment.

“Very good but nothing special”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Had breakfast here one morning while staying in the area. Between the two of us we had eggs benedict and blueberry pancakes. Both dishes were well prepared but nothing beyond what can be had at eateries of a similar ilk in the city. Brew coffee was a bit weak. If you are staying nearby it is certainly a satisfying option for breakfast, but not worth making an effort to visit from elsewhere in the city.

“Breakfast with some”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013 via mobile

A worthwhile place for breakfast. Tried the stuffed French Toast with fruit. Filling and scumptious if you're ready for that type of breakie. Eggs Florentine with fried Veg (potato) was also good. Interesting atmosphere with great service.

“Great food but pricy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

Went there for breakfast, and it's a good place. The service is great and food tasty, but pricy. We had feta tomato omelettes, grilled cheese and avocado sandwiches. Omelettes are great and I liked the Hot White Chocolate. Go there if you want a good breakfast but be prepared to spend much $$$.

“Awesome breakfast!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Great place to go for breakfast in the city and even nicer that they are one of the few that open early on a Sunday. Very cute on the inside with a nice bar as well - small area but with the high ceiling not an issue. The wait staff was excellent and very attentive. We went on a recent Sunday and although we did not have an advance reservation we were able to make one for 12 people approx. an hour later again very accomadating. The menu was varied and our group went from a cheeseburger to eggs benedict and all were excellent. There are many omelet choices and you can have egg whites as well - I had the veggie egg white omelet and it was perhaps the best egg white omelet I have tasted everything was cooked as perfectly and as requested. You can see that they use the freshest ingred. from orange juice to veggies to bacon. A place that I would visit again for sure perfect breakfast spot in the city!

“Great Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Wonderful breakfast options with nice sized portions. Waffles were a little flat but heaped with delicious fresh fruit. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Get in early or make reservations as the place was packed by 11:00 AM on a Saturday.
