“Theater District Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

We came here at 10pm for an after-show dinner. A family was leaving as we were entering, and a boy of about 12 or so said, "You're gonna love it. The food is awesome!" He was right! The Hourglass is small but packed with ambiance and character. The albondingas (chicken meatballs) were fantastic. I had the salmon filet and my husband had the veal chop special. Both entrees were delicious, and we had a great bottle of wine with dinner. We didn't save room for dessert, but we did have the pleasure of chatting for quite a while with Beth, the owner. She made us feel like we were family by the time we left. We'll be back!

“Welcoming-Family Atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014 via mobile

The hostess greeted us, sat us, and began to explain the history of this home/restaurant. Very interesting! It is located on Restaurant Row and has menu just for theater goers. She served homemade bread which we dipped in oil, and devoured quickly. We enjoyed our meal very much and all of us ordered something different. Comforting food with an Italian twist, I think. We planned to go back a order the homemade ravioli!!

“Delightful experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2014 via mobile

I stumbled upon this restaurant while searching for dinner recommendations here on Trip Advisor. The reviews - and the menu - intrigued me. Made reservations for the family, and we were not disappointed. We are always on the lookout for interesting and unique dining experiences, and the Hourglass Tavern did not disappoint. From the signature salad to the artichoke hummus to the special of the day - carrot ravioli - the food was delicious and interesting. Don't let the size of the dining room (there are only 6 tables), the Hourglass has been around for over 30 years, and with good reason!

“A gem on Restaurant Row!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

I held a birthday party at the Hourglass Tavern's 3rd floor space. The intimate space, the delicious food, the wonderful staff and the owner's personal warm attention made it a night to remember. People are still praising the party and the Hourglass Tavern! Whether you are looking for a midtown location for a meal (pre-theatre or otherwise) or a drink with friends, the Hourglass Tavern will not disappoint!
