“Extraordinary experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Dining at Juni is an extraordinary experience, from the superb food to the flawless service to the comfortable seating and serene ambience. Everyone at Juni made us feel like honored guests. The topper on the cake is the brilliant and engaging chef Shaun Hergatt. We've dined at all of the top restaurants in NYC (Per Se, Le Bernardin, Daniel, Jean-Georges, Eleven Madison, etc.) more than once, and in some cases several times, without ever meeting the chefs, but at Juni we met Chef Shaun on both visits and he greeted us warmly on our return and shared his thoughts about his creative process. For us it's mainly about the food, and if it wasn't superb, a charismatic chef would not make us rave, but Juni is the real deal - creative delicious food, excellent wine and enough buzz, space and peace to enjoy a private conversation with your dining companion(s), without being so hushed that you feel like you're in a library.

On both visits we had the chef's tasting menu and were delighted with every bite, from the brilliant amuse-bouches to the final sweets. Chef Shaun even threw in an extra course that he especially wanted us to try on our second visit. This is quickly becoming our favorite fine dining restaurant in Manhattan. It's expensive, but worth the cost.

“SUBLIME”

A wonderful and complete dining experience that was both delicious and beautifully presented. We enjoyed a 4 course meal with a well chosen Rioja that worked with all choices

“Breakfast as a hotel guest”

Impeccable service, friendly and efficient staff. Extremely clean and well kept room, and a great eggs Florentine if you are into that sort of thing.

“Excellent tasting meal-very expensive indeed.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

The atmosphere is classy but not stuffy. We (the 4 of us) went for the tasting menu and were surprised on the quality and ingenuity of the chef. He even came out to personally serve us on course. There were pre-tasting bites: all surprises. The fish dish was excellently cooked, and the lamb was served two ways: as delicious sweet breads and as a loin. The raw scallops usually are not afavorite of mine, but very enjoyable at this fine place. The meal was very very expensive, but we were celebrating a fine event. I would recommend this place for a fine meal to impress.

“Expensive, but worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

Great restaurant with incredibly fresh ingredients and innovative preparations -- including little extra amuse bouches that were just plain fun to eat. If you stay at the Hotel Chandler upstairs, you get a $100 wine credit, which helped with the bill (but not much). We did it the expensive way, which was the full 10-course chef's tasting menu, with wine pairings. Every course was great, but the portions were larger than we expected, and we probably ate too much and drank too much. We would gladly go there again, but the 4-course or 6-course menu (or a la carte) would probably be plenty.
