“Stop for sum more”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

The Mandarin Court is for sure one of the better dim sum restaurants in New York. I have been there 3 times for Sunday brunch and although there is always a line up to get in- you never have to wait for long.

The reason I like Mandarin court is that the dim sum is always hot. You don't feel like it has been on the cart for a long time. Some of my favourites include the chive dumplings and baby bok choi

“Not so great this time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2012

I've visited Mandarin Court Restaurant in NYC three times in the past. I raved about it to my friend and we made the long walk from 55th Street down to Chinatown.
I did not realize that the luncheon buffet is only served during the week, we were there on a Saturday. That left us to decide on the Lo Mien with shrimp. That settled, we waited for our food to arrive. In the meantime, the customers across from us both had their cell phones speaker and we listened to two two-way conversations before I had to ask (tell) them to turn off their phones at the table. I feel that the owner or waiters should have informed them to be polite.
Dinner was nothing great, but tasty enough.
When it came time to leave, we walked downstairs to use the restrooms. Both stalls were flooded, so we quickly returned upstairs to inform the woman at the front. Apparently, she was already aware of the situation as she began to speak with some of the individuals hanging around the front door.
With so many other spots to try in Chinatown, we won't be going back to Mandarin Court again.
Please diners....when you are seated in a restaurant turn off your phone or take your call outdoors.

“VERY GOOD CANTONESE DIM SUM”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

Mott St and Canal area is mainly a tourist Chinatown. I would never have stopped for dim sum if I had not been starved and tired from other shopping. Major surprise in store. Very good steamed cha siu steamed prok buns and decent roast duck, shu mai. and har gow. Pleasant service from the usual uninterested waiters but prompt and correct. Dim sum cart has few choices but worthwhile. Its great to have a stop available and worth the visit. Neat, tidy, clean, fairly new and up to date. Will not scare away tourist/visiter friends if you are in the area.
