“Just Okay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2013

By no means a great pizza. It was just okay.

Service was NYC aloof. Not great, but certainly not terrible. They need to move those tables to make more tips.

The best aspect is that for a $20 pizza you and your famly can grab a quick respite from the muggy [or cold] weather outside. It is nice to experience the repurposed church that it's housed in.

For an affordable meal, John's is fine. For great pizza, look elsewhere.

“Lost points due to lack of air conditioning...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

Pizza, pepperoni with onion was very good, but not excellent. The tomato sauce was on the sweet side. Both the pepperoni and onion toppings were very good but not very generous. Not very oily crust. $20.75

My friend's bloody mary was very good, $10.50

Our server, 9 Luis, was a bit overwhelmed as we were sitting in the uppermost level and he had a long way to go to the kitchen. It was very warm if not hot upstairs, quite noisy too. NO FREE REFILLS on soft drinks! Therefore we did not order any...Since when are drink refills not free? Unfortunately, our water glasses were frequently empty or very low.

Great location for those staying in the Times Square area.

If you go, be sure to sit on the first level.

“Good pizza”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2013

I wouldn't rate it the best I've ever eaten but it was good. The crust was very thin and slightly burnt on the bottom, but we were hungry and that tends to make food taste very good.

“Another must!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Again another favorite restaurant we visit when in the city! The pizza is one of the best & the service each year is consistent! The history of the building is also interesting to look up!
