I've been to the Bleecker Street location previously, and raved to the hubby about Magnolia's cupcakes as he missed out that time. So on our next NYC trip we paid a visit to the Rockefella Plaza store. The first time we visited the queue was enormous, so we decided to leave it until another day. Then we happened to pass one evening, and there was hardly any queue so we went in and bought a couple of cupcakes to go. There were about 3 or 4 variations in colour/flavour, and I thought they all looked really pretty. I'm not sure what the US 'standard' cupcake would be like - as there seem to have been some negative reviews on here with regard to the cake being dry, or not having enough frosting....The ones we had were lovely. The cake was moist and yummy and there was more than enough frosting - any more and it would have been sickly. So, I'm not sure what the Americans are used to - but if they want more frosting than that, they must have a REAL sweet tooth. We ate our cakes the following evening, and they had stayed in their box unrefrigerated until that time without drying out - they were simply yummy. We went back again on our last day and took a couple of cupcakes to Central Park - the perfect end to a prefect break in a fab city.
