“A Charming, Comfortable Oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

The High Line is conveniently located (easy walk to the A, C and E subway lines) in a charming neighborhood. And it offers beautifully appointed accommodations, attentive (but not fawning) staff, and the perfect escape from the noise and hectic pace of NYC. Love this place!

The recent renovation and redesign of the High Line Hotel tips the scale in favor of form over function. Beautiful polished woods paired with trendy gothic wall and floor coverings make for luxurious furnishment, but the "Full Sized Room" leaves you feeling beyond cramped. (Although I should have guessed something was to be amiss when the check in valet referred to our room as "The Harry Potter Room.") Gabled ceilings with walls a mere 10 inches from the edge of our bed to either side of the room, my husband and I were left with about 10 square feet of standing room within our unit, and could touch the ceilings. There was not enough room to open a suitcase, and the room was not equipped with a closet. We literally had to open our suitcase in the bathroom when needed, as it was the only space available. Luckily we only had one piece of luggage- 2 would not have fit, even under the bed! There was no suitcase rack, as there was not enough room to make use of it. We had to ask for the robes to be removed from the bathroom so we could use their hooks to store our clothing--as opening/closing our suitcases was not an option throughout our 5 day stay. I've lived in the city for over 10 years and have seen my fair share of "tiny" hotel rooms for friends and family- this one beyond took the cake. On the top floor, the air conditioning did not work, but the front desk installed a window unit when we complained...but there went our view!

My recommendation would be if you book a standard full/queen room, do not let them place you in one of their (1/2) rooms; ie Room 57 1/2. The location is great for gallery viewing, highline strolling, and quiet nights. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but who needs that with NYC right outside your door?

Thank you for choosing the High Line Hotel on your recent visit. We appreciate your business and look forward to seeing you again the next time you are in Chelsea. Hope you will try one of our other rooms like our superior or deluxe king room, which are much larger. Thank you again for your feedback.

The Wife and I started our friends wedding weekend in Chelsea, and after much hemming and hawing over where to stay finally settled on the Highline. We couldn't be happier with our selection. From the moment we walked in the door, the service was impecable. Check-in was a breeze, and suggestions for dinner and drinks were ample and on point.

The room was appointed with a desk, comfy bed, and operable typewriter my wife used to leave a note for our daughter (when she's born that is). Free Wifi in the room, and old world charm that you don't find in modern hotels throughout the city. Inteligista Coffee bar in the lobby, and a quiet seating area right on 10th street.

Close to multiple eateries nearby (Morimoto, Cookshop, Artichoke, etc etc), and a quick 5 minute walk to the Chelsea Market and Highline.

5/5 would certainly stay again, and recommend to all our friends.

I have been traveling to NYC for work over the last six months. The High Line has become my oasis. In no other hotel have I been treated so wonderfully by the staff. Every bit of my experience at The High Line has been top notch. I'd rather stay no where else.

Room Tip: Every single room in which I've stayed was perfect.

I've been recently and for the first time to this hotel during a BIZ trip in NY city.

The structure is absolutely characteristic both externally and internally.

The environment is absolutely warm and the overview is very cool. You do not understand in what time you are... Modern and "retro'" at the same time.

Rooms are confortable and not small. Which is quite unusual in the city.

In front of the hotel you have an access to the High Line, amazing! Do not leave NY if you do not try a walk there!

My overall experience has been very positive.

I'll back for sure

I have frequented many of the New York City luxury hotels and have to say that the HighLine, by far, is one of my absolute favorites. Everything from the service to the overall experience was exceptional.

From the courtesy of the staff, who upgraded my room and treated me like a valued guest, to the Intelligensia Coffee bar to the romantic & elegantly appointed room, it's a joy to stay. I'd only say don't go so it stays available when I'm in NY.
