“Charming, funky, fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

The High Line Hotel is a funky fun place in one of the hottest neighborhoods in NYC. The decor is warm and charming and the staff is friendly and welcoming. We were always greeted, as if we were coming home. It is conveniently located within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and transportation. (Subway is only 2 blocks and 4 avenues away.) The lobby is a dog friendly coffee shop, so there's always interesting visitors to watch or interact with. This however also appeared to be the only drawback we encountered. After returning to the hotel in the late afternoon, the lobby was so crowded there was no place for us to sit and relax. I imagine in nicer weather, the back patio would alleviate this issue. That being said, I would definitely return, felt very much at home here.

Room Tip: In the future I would ask for room away from the elevator, people coming and going could be clearly...

The High Line Hotel offers the charm you’d expect from Chelsea with easy walking access to the neighborhood and adjacent places like the Flatiron District (Eatly/ABC Carpet Home/UnionSquare) and West Village (Magnolias Bakery).

I had a girls weekend away in NYC and we all enjoyed our comfortable accommodations (extra comfy bed!). Just stay away from the Standard Queen double-sized bed rooms since they are smaller than a closet and are noted with ½ after the room numbers. The Standard King and especially the Deluxe King provided for lots of room for the gals to hang out and catch up on life.

The lobby was warm and inviting with its own expresso bar open to the public. The only thing I took issue with is that the neighbors all feel a need to bring their dogs with them to the expresso bar and hang out in the intimate (limited seating) lobby. With three to four dogs at any one time, I wasn’t sure I was in a dog park or a hotel. Dogs aside, I definitely plan to return and can’t wait to experience the hotel and it’s outdoor spaces in warmer weather!

Room Tip: Don't book a Standard Queen -- rooms noted by 1/2 after the room number. They are the size of th...

If you are looking for a super cozy , friendly hotel with awesome furnishings this is the place. I felt as though I was in my own private atelier. Our room (#40 ) had gorgeous natural light and ample space. Beds were very comfortable, too.All of the art and decor is carefully and beautifully curated.

Very nice hotel with plenty of character and good design. Windows that actually open and let in plenty of light. Not a corporate, shiny chain hotel feeling one bit - perfect! Nice coffee shop on ground floor. Only drawback is that it's not really close to a subway, which is fine if you've got time to stroll along and the weather is nice. If it's minus 30 (as it was when we visited) and you're on a short timeline, it does feel a bit out of the way and gets expensive in cabs to go east.

Room Tip: Ask for higher up for quieter rooms, or courtyard side

The hotel is very nice and quaint. The lobby was a little too small for my taste but still very welcoming. We went in February but I think it is more charming in the Spring/Summer when the courtyard is open. It's well located. Our double bed room was very spacious. However the bathroom's plumbing was not the most efficient. It's definitely an hotel for couples, business trip or family with older kids. Very low key yet upscale. I just wish the lobby was a little more spacious.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the courtyard as rooms on 10th Avenue are bound to be noisy.

If you are looking for a relaxed yet premium atmosphere this is the right place. Historical building full of memorabilia and good looking people around make the environment worth going. Rooms are well designed but not perfect fro travellers that are looking for usual comfort. Heating was too high despite of the warm temperatures outside, wardrobe had no lighting but beds are great.

The Chelsea location is lovely, within walking distance of sundry independent shops and interesting restaurants not to mention the eponymous park, right on the doorstep. I0th is pretty busy, but we didn't hear much in our dual aspect roof room. The room was spacious, no dreaded fitted carpet, and well lit by secondary light sources; it felt individual. The bed was wonderful. But, good luck with getting any ice- cold water from the taps - in fact the plumbing was a little off; perhaps this is just par for the course in NYC...- our bathroom shower malfunctioned one morning, with some distinctly brackish water pouring from the taps. Here the lack of reception was a minor annoyance, and nothing was ventured to us by way of apology for the minor inconvenience of having to wait for our morning showers. Being Brits, we didn't push it.
The coffee's great and the terrace at ground floor to 10th is a very nice place to enjoy one, or a glass of chilled white.
Overall, we loved it and we'd both be thrilled to stay here on our return to the city.
