My sister and I were staying in Harlem, so had to go to Sylvia's to try the Soul Food. When we asked what this was, were were told it was food prepared with love!-with origins in the Southern States. Our meal begain with a free house cocktail -a great start!. We don't eat meat, so it's sometimes a little tricky, but catfish and collard greens were great, and the corn bread warm and conforting. We were lucky it was not busy and the lovely waitress had time to chat and made us feel very welcome. I would like to become a regular here...we will certainly be back on our next trip to New York. Lenox Avenue late at night was no problem for us two old white ladies -in fact, everyone we met in the street was very courteous and we never felt unsafe. Go there-it's a short walk from 125 St. Metro.
