“Sunday Brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

We attended the Gospel Brunch on December 30, 2012. The line was a block long ouside and it was frigid. I managed to get my granddaughters inside , out of the cold. The wait as about 45 minutes but the fried chicken was the best ever! The live music was also nice. There were nothing but tourists there (France/Spain/Italy/Greece etc), almost no locals.

“Great, tasty food at Sylvia's”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

We called from Penn Station at 11:40 AM to ask for breakfast. They said yes until 1 PM. Caught the subway (the 2 or 3) and got off at 125th Street in Harlem. It was a quick, uneventful ride. Seating was quick. Lots of breakfast items to choose. I had salmon cakes, grits, & eggs. It was DEElicious! The service was warm & friendly. They even charged my cell phone. How nice is that??? smile! I've been to Sylvia's in the past. It continues to get high marks from me.

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

We ate here one evening a while ago, after having booked a table in advance and really been looking forward to it based on other reviews. The service was really courteous and good, but the food was actually nothing special at all. I had a chicken dish and choose string beans and mashed potatoes. The beans were overcooked, and it was a brown sauce that covered the whole chicken and mash. Sorry to say that I could have made it much better myself. A bit of a disappointment!

“Mediocre food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Had a Sunday Gospel Brunch. I suppose this place lives on reputation. The service was ok, food mediocre - even a little tastles. I suppose if you're in the neighborhood... The salmon cakes tasted like tuna. xXx hotsauce was milder than Tabasco. Southern fried chicken was ok. Best part was definitely the potatoes / fries which were really quite good!
