“Great food, great atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Enjoyed a very good meal on St Marks Place. Atmosphere was lively but not overpowering, not just a cafe, food was good restaurant standard and medium priced. Staff very friendly and helpful, albeit a little too quick between courses.

“Not just a brunch Cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

Although a few negative reviews have been written about visits when the café was crowded during weekend brunch, we enjoyed a good dinner in a nearly empty dining room.

Prior to eating here we walked by several times and never actually observed a line up, but it frequently appeared to be full. The interior is much roomier than is implied by the width of the outdoor seating so it requires a large number of guests to fill this café.

On a Sunday evening we had our choice of seating both inside and outside since less than 20% of the restaurant was occupied. The greeter and servers (all of them) were very friendly and helpful.

Our dinner was quite decent and significantly better than several others that we had during our 10 day visit.

We definitely would visit again.

“Horrible experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

We recently ate Sunday brunch at this restaurant. My son and his friends come here every weekend so I was anxious to see what the buzz was about. There was a huge wait yet we were seated within 10 minutes upon arrival. After waiting 15 minutes we asked the hostess for menus. Eventually the waitress came to take our orders. Another 10 minutes passed and we received no drinks. We asked the waitress about the drinks. She disappeared for a while, then brought our drinks a bit later. 45 minutes after we were seated our brunch appeared in a take out bag. I told the busboy that we didn't order our meal to go and I wanted to talk to the waitress. She said she thought we were in a hurry so she packed it to go. I was at a loss at this point. We were seated at a table while many, many people were waiting to be seated so why would we be carrying out??? She said she would have our breakfast plated. 10 minutes later our meal appeared, though mine was not what I ordered. Everything was cold at that point. I was furious. Not once did she apologize. Instead she defended how busy the place was, how many tables she needed to wait on, etc. I mentioned how many other tables had their orders taken and food delivered before us, even though we had been sitting there far longer. I asked to speak with the manager. He was just as ambivalent as the waitress. He offered to comp our meal but did not apologize for anything until I really lost my temper. The food was fine but I know there are many other brunch places in New York who would be happy to have customers, unlike this place.

“fab brunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

went there with 3 other friends and we all ordered different brunch plates! excellent value for money in a fantastic area. The East village is such a fab place as it is residential with lots of community gardens. ANYWAY, the ingredients were freshly made...we tried the pancake and it was made to order. We had huevos rancheros and the beans were excellent. Poached eggs made to perfection. Highly recommended

“A Rare Find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

A rare find - a restaurant downtown with great food where they change up the menu and surprise you with some delicious specials now and then, all at a reasonable price. An easy pick for almost any occasion, from dinner with your girlfriend to a place for friends to meet for dinner before going out. Also, the staff is very friendly and helpful which is another rarity.
