“Definitely one of the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2014

After a few visits, I have to say that the food is excellent and consistent. The service has always been great. This visit, we had the Filet Mignon (rare) and the Angry Lobster along with a few
sides (probably too much food for two). Both mains were fantastic! Our server Anita was
friendly, knowledgeable and was attentive - overall, excellent. Finally, save some room for
the crème Brule dessert.

“Very Good. A summary.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2014

Maloney & Porcelli is very good as far as steak houses go. It is not my favorite steak house in the city, but it is still a high quality establishment. Forgive my lack of superlatives, but I simply felt my experience was very good. There was nothing exceptional, but there was nothing to cause complaint. The cocktails, appetizers, and entrees were all prepared well. Overall, I felt that Maloney & Porcelli ranks among the best steak houses, but doesn't do anything in particular to place it as the best in any category.

“Bronson Pinchot, need I say more?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2014

This restaurant is one of the best steakhouses I have been to. The food was impecably served, eveything we ordered was phenominal. I got the Bronson Pinchot which is a filet that is finished table-side with a butter, red pepper sauce that has other stuff in it that is just fabulous! Lois was our server and she was delightful, very knowledgeable and fun. We were there on a business dinner and she answered every question we had and we had a lot! Oh and at dessert time, I asked the waiter if the red velvet cake was good and he said it was delicious and a nice sized portion. When it came out, it was on a footed cake plate and about a six inch round cake! Needless to say, it was enough for all of us to share. And, it was in fact delish!

“Solid Steak House”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2014

Not as well-known as Smith and Wolensky but in most respects just as good.

Reserve a booth for dinner, enjoy a couple of glasses of Decoy Cabernet to accompany an excellent steak with a wedge salad. To order seafood is to miss the point; this is a steak house.

The Bronson Pinchot is a house specialty filet mignon with a flambé sauce prepared tableside. At $52, it's expensive but the production makes the price point acceptable.

Many of the waiters are long-timers with ample personalities and a passion for both explaining the menu and delivering customer satisfaction.

The ambiance is somewhat dated and the decor could stand being refreshed. But, overall, this is a serious and reliable steakhouse.

“My visit was nothing special”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2014

I visited Maloney & Porcelli for restaurant week. The appetizer with scallops and corn chowder was the highlight - cooked perfectly and flavorful. However the main course was disappointing. The filet had significant charring on the outside which made the outer pieces tough and at times crispy (beyond what one would want for a grilled piece of meat). I ordered the hash browns as a side, which were served in a pan -- they were burnt on the top and edges. I was surprised that they brought out what seemed like a whole pot of "homemade steak sauce" -- I didn't care for it, but felt badly that they were wasting that much sauce (probably at least 16 ounces). I also didn't care to pay $4.25 for an 8oz bottle of a soft drink. I will not return.
