“Outstanding food but small portions during Restaurant Week”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

I really enjoyed my dining experience at this restaurant. I visited for the first time during restaurant week with a friend and we were both in agreement that the food was fabulous. The service was outstanding and the staff was very attentive to the customers as they arrived. the menu was so diverse which made choosing your meal difficult. I had the salmon coin and lamb appetizers but for the main course i chose the mango tandoori chicken with the mango cheese cake for dessert. This was some of the best indian food I have had and the starting salad P could not get enough of. However, the food portions were very small for someone with a good appetite but i will definitely return to amma in the future.

“Did not disappoint!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Dined at Amma earlier this month, after reading reviews online for best Indian in New York. This restaurant did not disappoint! Service was friendly and attentive, food was delicious, and overall ambiance of restaurant was enjoyable. Will definitely visit again on my next trip to the city!

While it doesn't look like much from the outside, Amma is a gem. Wonderful flavors, great presentation.

“Creative taste sensations and great service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Every mouthful was a delightful assault on the taste buds. A big step above the average Indian Restaurant. Nice taster of pea patty with tamarind and mint sauces was complimentary. Try crisp layered spinach and sprouting bean starter which you have to eat by hand. We had chicken in roasted coconut (yum) and lamb Maas daal which was intensely spicy. The crispy okra is sublime! Light strips fried with lemon and spices. You can order as a side or main. Very attentive and helpful service. Cosy little gem! We would definitely go every time we are in NY and will tell friends. You'll love it.

“Great New Year's Eve meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Fantastic restaurant and food, this was one of the best Indians that we have ever had, and we have eaten in a lot of indian restaurants, as its our favourite kind of cuisine, the atmosphere was great, it is worth booking a table, this is a hidden gem we had a taster special menu and all the courses were well cooked and well presented, this was a good value for money also, the staff were very friendly and I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Enjoy.
