While it doesn't look like much from the outside, Amma is a gem. Wonderful flavors, great presentation.

“Creative taste sensations and great service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Every mouthful was a delightful assault on the taste buds. A big step above the average Indian Restaurant. Nice taster of pea patty with tamarind and mint sauces was complimentary. Try crisp layered spinach and sprouting bean starter which you have to eat by hand. We had chicken in roasted coconut (yum) and lamb Maas daal which was intensely spicy. The crispy okra is sublime! Light strips fried with lemon and spices. You can order as a side or main. Very attentive and helpful service. Cosy little gem! We would definitely go every time we are in NY and will tell friends. You'll love it.

“Great New Year's Eve meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Fantastic restaurant and food, this was one of the best Indians that we have ever had, and we have eaten in a lot of indian restaurants, as its our favourite kind of cuisine, the atmosphere was great, it is worth booking a table, this is a hidden gem we had a taster special menu and all the courses were well cooked and well presented, this was a good value for money also, the staff were very friendly and I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Enjoy.

“Tasty indian food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

Find an Indian restaurant that stands out from the average is not very easy. Most of them serves always the same with a standardized flavor, where most of the dishes looks like the same. This is not the case of Amma. They serve excellent dishes, cooked at tandoor and also some tasty curries. The service is very attentive and accurate. The place is a bit small and the decor is soft, despite not make you feel in an Indian atmosphere.

“The Best Indian meal I have ever had, bar none.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

Elegant, simple ambiance, very attentive staff. Incredible tasting menu. They estimated 1 hrs 45 min for the tasting meal. It was perfectly timed.
Each of the 7 courses was beautifly presented and explained in detail. The variety of taste sensations was wonderful. THE best Indian meal I have ever had after eating in hundreds of Indian Restaurants across the US and England. The whole experience made me feel special and topped off a perfect day in NYC.
