Visited a number of times over the years - most recently last night and once again a wonderful experience. Arrived at the comfortable time of 5:30 with three friends - we had a drink at the bar while waiting for two business associates. Seated for dinner at 6:15 the dining area spacious and quiet. By 8:00 the dining and bar area is beyond full to capacity. The place is electric with everyone enjoying their meals and company.
No question - This is the place to be. Based on yesterday's dinner - it's no wonder.

From the tasty fresh bread to the shared desserts of Creme Brulee / Cheesecake / Ice Cream - it all worked.

For starters we shared a generous seafood platter which was perfectly distributed.
We all had our selections of crab meat / colossal shrimp / lobster tails / oysters with cocktail sauce. All selections worked (oysters excluded - I'm not a fan) as the platter was cleaned.

As for the steaks. We ordered two porterhouses for two which was more than enough for the five of us. One steak medium / one steak medium well.
The medium was cooked perfectly. Hot / Juicy and perfectly middle pink - a wonderful steak. The medium well was enjoyed as well as nothing was left but the bone.

Service was alert and courteous all evening. Plates promptly cleared - water and wine quickly refilled. No mistakes throughout the evening. The dining room - even when full - was comfortable. Acoustics were perfect as you didn't need to yell to hear your dining neighbor. As for the ambience - With the unique architecture and the often told stories of this restaurant once being a private subway station for the Vanderbilt's - provides for interesting conversation.

Who knows the truth? Just enjoy the experience.

“Phenomenal steak! Get the bacon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2013

We went there for a business dinner with a party of 8. Started in the bar waiting for our reservation. Excellent wines by the glass selection.
Once seated, we started with a piece of bacon, yes bacon, for each person. Wow, this was a great way to start the meal. It was a big, thick piece of bacon grilled to perfection. The seafood tower was next. Very fresh, plenty of lobster, shrimp, and crab. I ordered the filet (medium). It was big! Cooked perfectly. One of the best filets I have ever had. Service was very attentive at the bar and at the table.
Too expensive for family dinner, but a great place to entertain clients.

“Best Steakhouse in NYC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

I've been to a lot of steakhouses in New York, including Peter Luger's, Ben & Jacks and a number of others. Wolfgang's is by far my favorite and it doesn't matter which location you go to. This location is a little louder than Tribeca, which is my go to, but if that doesn't bother you, I definitely recommend it.

“Overall very good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2013

The one in Times Square is in nice and modern space, right across the street from the (new) NY Times building. Wolfgang's salad is very good--has shrimp, bacon, and lots of other stuff in it. Home fries are amazing. Porterhouse for 4 ordered medium-rare was great in spots, and hard to chew in other spots. Icecream sundae for dessert is excellent--but they didn't bring the schlag--came with whipcream already on the desserts--I want the bucket of schlagg lathered on with the ladle. Service was good.
