“Bastion of Men, Steak and the Bloody Mary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

This is a super male environment with lots of power suiting / gazing, steaks and bloody mary's. Nothing entirely over the top, though, if you are a woman seeking a business lunch spot. Do be advised that the entire place - maitre d, waitstaff, and bartenders - takes its cues from the men in your party - so power up to the maitre d and let him know its your show if you need the staff to focus on you as the leader of a luncheon meeting. The key to success here is that that same male -oriented service is solid / old school and the food delivers. Be warned: the food is heavy - even the fish - so ask if you need something cooked on the lighter side. Also - Its not quiet, and it can be impossible to hear your companions when its very crowded. Ask the maitre d to seat you appropriately. I find its easier to have a quick lunch at the bar when I need to discuss important business efficiently. The bartender is usually nice, professional company if you want to dine alone and not in silence.

“A great experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

We visited Wolfgang's after it was recommended by our concierge but they were fully booked out so we made a reservation for the following night. The lady was very rude when we made the booking and we weren't sure whether we'd go back but I'm so glad we did! Although they claimed not to have our booking when we returned the next night that was the worst of our experience at Wolfgang's.

We were seated immediately and served by a very attentive waiter who quickly bought us breads and drinks. As we looked through the menu a man from the next table lent over to tell us 'enjoy, it's an event' and he was right!

We ordered the steak for two with sides of mash potato, asparagus and onion rings and from the moment the food came out we couldn't believe it! It was by far the best meal we've had in New York and although we were stuffed we just couldn't stop eating! Whilst pretty pricey (we paid over $200 without wine) it is very much worth it and we would go again if we had more time in NY.

The service, the food and the atmosphere made this our favourite meal on our three week honeymoon - definitely make a reservation here.

“Temple of Steak in the heart of Manhatten”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

There is no need for a lot of words at this temple of steaks. Just sit at a table or even better on the bar and just dig in the meat. There is even no need for any side order just beer and steak. Heavenly prepared and worsewhile wating if you have not ordered in advance

“THE Best steak house in the WORLD!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

What can I say. I've known Wolfgang my entire life. GE was the MAN at Peter Lugar in Brooklyn (an amazing steak house as well), and he has established perfection in food, wine and ambiance. The place is always a blast and a 5 star meal. Anyone who misses out has missed out. Put this on your bucket list!
And always get your porterhouse medium rare. Lol. :)

“Excellent steak, very good service, bad reservation system”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Starting with the positive.....the food at Wolfgang's is excellent. The steak, potatoes and creamed spinach are comparable to Peter Luger's. The wait staff are much friendlier and more accomodating than Luger's. However, as other reviewers have noted, their reservation system needs improvement. We (and apparently several others) had dinner reservations for 7PM. The (very young) hostess advised us to "go to the bar and have a drink." We were seated after 8 PM but only after we cajoled the maitre d. There were many angry patrons that waited an inordinate amount of time. Clearly, the restaurant was overbooked. We would go back for the food but only if they fixed their broken reservation system.
