“Solid but not spectacular”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2014 via mobile

It was Valentine's night so crowded as expected . 30 minutes after the reservation we were still not seated so elected to eat at the bar. The food was very good ( chicken Milanese and ravioli entrees) and the service at the bar excellent. The manager comped us drinks for the inconvenience. We would return when back next .

“A really good restaurant in a really good location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

On a very cold night Azalea was a really nice place to have dinner. the bar is right at the door, but somehow avoided the cold. The bartender was a charming young Russian woman, Olga, with whom I had a nice conversation about Sochi, which I had been to this past summer, and she had been to as a child. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The table that they led us to was in a very inviting corner of the room. The food (my wife had fettuccine, with a tomato and meat sauce, and I osso buco) was really wonderful, and preceded by a delicious house salad with warm chicken on it that was large enough not only for both of us, but no doubt for one more as well. Our waiter recommended a Barolo wine to go with our meal, which was, as he had described it, lovely--soft, smooth and full-bodied. It came a bit warm for what I consider appropriate room temperature; so, after decanting it, he took it away to cool it down for a few minutes. Now it was indeed perfect!

“Italian Restaurant that doesn't disappoint”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

Subdued atmosphere, we were seated on arrival. Recommend reservation. No delays, but we weren't rushed either. Very good menu, nice selection of wines. Mid price range. Try it out.

“Great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2014

We went to Azalea for dinner after reading TripAdvisor reviews, and we were not disappointed.
We were served by very attentive staff who recommended the carpaccio with a glass of italian red as a starter and fish for main course. My sister had the filet of sole with lemon sauce and capers and I had the seafood risotto. They both went well with a bottle of Pinot Grigio.

The waiter asked if we enjoyed our meal, and we told him we did - but my sister could have wanted more capers with the sole. The waiter was sad to hear that and to compensate he offered complimentary dessert with a glass of desert wine. We thought that was an excellent way to make up with everything and really appreciated the treat. See you next time we are in New York.

“Service lacking, food excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014 via mobile

We had dinner during a snowstorm, being in the neighborhood. We didnt make a reservation, and when we came in, all waiters congregated in one corner, ignoring all the people standing in the hall, waiting to be seated. The polite and rather aloof attitude continued, the food left nothing to be desired. They didnt have the bottle of white I ordered but what they came up with in replacement was excellent. The chicken was like in Italy.. Thin, lightly seasoned with a lemon to squeeze over, the vegetables like they should be. Like dining in Milano. We left slightly ignored, but happy.
