“Still licking off the sugar from my Lemon Drops”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Bar service was excellent. Had some drinks before a show. Prices were what you would expect from any other theater district restaurant. The decor was most pleasant. We found this place right after coming off a subway ride.

“Great Pre-Matinee”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

Four of us had lunch before attending a Saturday matinee. First of all, we loved the way it looks: a successful blend of classic "old" New York with a current vibe. Not overly crowded with tables, so you don't feel like everyone can hear your conversation. And the service was attentive without being intrusive.
The food is basic fare: soups, burgers, omelets, pasta, salads, raw bar. Tasty, satisfying, but not gourmet. The portions are very large and were served with a complimentary bloody mary, mimosa or house wine. Reasonably priced.
We'll go again.

“Nice atmosphere and great food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

We didn't book a table and it looked pretty full when we arrived at 8 but we were sat at a table with no problem. The tables are very very close together it did feel at some points we were a party of four with the couple next to us rather than two, because you can't help but hear the conversations, it was close. That being said, the atmosphere is buzzing and just alive, the service is great, and the good is beautiful. It's not too pricey and well worth a visit when in New York.

“Explosion of flavor!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Chose Thalia for pre-theater dinner and we were completely impressed from start to finish! A friend with exquisite taste strongly encouraged us to have dinner there - and to meet the owner, Avi. Avi is incredibly nice - truly a "hands-on" guy -genuine and engaging. The staff was attentive, and conscious of our time constraints. Shared appetizer of mussels - delicious! We wanted to lick the plate clean! Each of us had a different entree, and each would argue that theirs was the BEST! Between us, we had purple sweet potato gnocchi with blue cheese, mushroom ravioli, and mine - clearly the winner! - Prawns with sweet corn risotto and mushrooms stuffed with crab. Definitely on our list for our next trip to NYC!

“Great Theater District Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

I recently went here for brunch, and on a different visit to NY, I was there for dinner. Both experiences were excellent. Thalia is a casual, trendy retaurant that is conveniently located near Times Square and right around the corner from several theaters, including the Eugene O'Neill Theater, where The Book of Mormon is showing.

The decor is nice - modern yet comfortable, and they have a nice bar area too - over-stuffed leather chairs, etc. The service was excellent and the menu was diverse. They have a great oyster selection, and they also serve a free alcoholic beverage - mimosa or bloody mary - with a brunch entree'. Their burgers are really good, too. Classic American fare but trendy menu, great staff, good food, great location, and reasonably priced.
