“Wow - a renovated Molyvos as good as it ever was!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

The decor is slightly changed, a bit more elegant, but I was dismayed when I saw the menu that appeared to be diminished compared to the old one. Not to worry! The meal I had, from the starters to the main course, was fantastic. The wine selection (from the Thessaly region of Greece) was incredible and the desserts were great as well. Although I've been here many times, I was with three colleagues who had never been here and they each agreed that the meal was one of the best they'd ever had. A winner for sure! Just bring your wallets, folks, becauase it doesn't come cheaply.

“Comfortable delicious even adventurous”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Molyvos is great. From a traditional mousaka to an interesting, flavorful salad the food is delicious. The waiter are knowledgeable about wine, and are neither indifferent nor too chatty. The setting is comfortable. If you can, site towards the rear.

“Upscale Greek cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Overall, a very pleasant experience. This was the first time I have had Greek food at other than a 'family style' restaurant. The restaurant space has various dining areas which makes each space seem a bit more intimate than being in one big room. The service was good, attentive but not 'in your face' - more like service in European restaurants. The Spanakopita triangles for appetizer, buttery FILO pastry with very tasy spinach filling. I was a bit hesitant about ordering the lamb stew that the waiter recommended, having in mind a plate of possibly not too lean lamb swimming in gravy that i've had in some places, but went with it anyway. So glad I did. Very different, and delicious. There were about 6 or 7 pieces of very tasty lamb in a light tomato-ey sauce served on small squares of al dente egg noodles. One of my friends had Moussaka, also very different from my memory of other restaurants. This came in a ceramic bowl, and was comprised of layers of very tasty spiced ground lamb, potato, eggplant, topped with a yoghurt bechamel sauce and crispy topping. Really delicious! Other friend had the cabbage rolls, each one filled with ground lamb beef and pork, some arborio rice, and the lightly lemony Avgolemono sauce.
All of these make me want to return to try some of the other menu items. Price-wise a bit on the high side but not outrageous.

“Delicious Authentic Greek”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We enjoyed all dishes that we ordered at Molyvos. The cheese tasting provided an interesting variety of flavors. The baby beet salad was refreshing. My wife ordered her usual, moussaka which was cooked and flavored to perfection. I enjoyed the stuffed cabbage although it was not as flavorful as I expected. The menu does not provide options for children who may not be familiar with Greek dishes. This was our second dinner at Molyvos; we will return.

“Pleasant Suprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Nice local find near the theater district. Bigger than expected. Good food with reasonable price given the location near CArnegie Hall and theater district.Take your time with dinner, have drinks and small dishes, and then the meal.
