L’Absinthe, a brasserie-restaurant at 227 East 67th, NYC. Here is another great find, a truly authentic Parisian brasserie, with fine cuisine and reasonable prices. The chef owner, Jean-Michel Bergougnoux, gave us a great selection of traditional dishes in which I found a perfectly marvelous quenelle de brochet, the traditional emulsified pike fish in a foamy lobster sauce/broth, with nice chucks of that lobster. My wife enjoyed the also traditional coq au vin, not great but just as expected. Good service, nice Macon and Sancerre, but overpriced for these winemakers. I highly recommend this place for authentic atmosphere and food.
