“great lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Visiting from UK. Stopped here for lunch during a visit to Greenwich Village. Friendly efficient service, lovely food. Reasonable price. Ambience good and very nice little covered patio out the back. Would recommend for lunch-burger and omelette excellent, we just had one course.

“Mixed experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

On the positive side, the small intimate restaurant has got plenty of character and has a warm, neighborly feel. Many of the waitstaff were friendly and efficient, but service was inconsistent and not consistently warm. We were looking forward to the food after reading many of the other reviews on this site. The ingredients were fresh and the emphasis on the integrity of the flavours was clear, but the pork loin dish arrived from the kitchen rather cold and the bland, while the cod dish was over-salted. We may have just been unlucky, and the restaurant clearly has a loyal local clientele, but I would have to give August a mixed review based on our experience.

“August (No) Rush”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

What a great place. Terrific staff, from the bartender to the hostess to the waitstaff. Three of us met there for brunch. August has a very creative and egg-citing brunch menu. Our meals were delicious, the price was right, and they were happy to let us linger over a second cup of coffee, as we caught up on each others lives. I highly recommend the Gruyere Omelet with a side of bacon, or even better, the Wood Oven Eggs en Cocotte. The location on Bleecker Street is perfect, While we were there, a street bazaar was in progress, with vendors selling every sort of merchandise and delicacy. I highly recommend being seated in the "greenhouse"

“Sorority Sister's Reunion”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2012

How funny is it that 2 months ago I was in Firenze on vacation and met some wonderful people who told my about the restaurant in my home city. The food and service were both wonderful and it was the perfect place to reconnect with people. We sat on the back patio which was cozy and comfortable. Its a lovely place and I've made another reservation for brunch again. I'd definitely recommend.

“A gem in the village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2012

This bistro-like restaurant always surprises with the ingenuity of its menu and the freshness of its fare.
This is the only place where after finishing an entree I asked for seconds.
Not to worry, reasonable prices still made the tab also very palaple.
The garden room in the back is so refreshing in summer and so cosy in winter.
Service is excellent and friendly. Suggestions are always on target and the wine list is interesting.
Overall, you will always have a delicious time!
