“An Afternoon in SoHo...or was it Paris!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Went to Balthazar last week with friends and family. I loved it from the minute I walked in. The atmosphere was wonderful...it is a wide open space with columns and service stations with fresh crusty bread arranged, waiting to be served. It can be a bit loud so perfect for groups that like to talk and laugh! The service great...our waitress made some wonderful suggestions, was pleasant and knowledgeable. The food spectacular -Appetiezer - warm goat cheese and carmalized onion tort...spectacular! The main courses ordered - grilled chicken paillard, grilled brook trout salad, duck confit - all wonderful. The desserts exceptional - we tried the creme brulee and the Profiteroles - a perfect finish. The wine...lovely!
I can't wait to go back!
Note: lunch is a bit pricey....do not miss the experience...save and go to enjoy an afternoon in France!

“Good dining without snobbishness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013 via mobile

Lerge, high-ceilinged with mirrors. This place is classic French-style, yet cosy with the great food & wine. Packed out, but we didn't feel any pressure to move on.

“Our favorite breakfast and lunch in Soho”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

Regretfully we have never made it here for dinner but several breakfasts and lunches have been worth the trip to Soho.
I am amazed how a place can be so busy mid-morning for a late breakfast and busier at lunch. It is a huge restaurant and usually full. We have usually been seated promptly without reservations and service is excellent. One has to wonder where all these casual breakfast people come from; don't these folks have jobs? The crowd is usually fashionably dressed and seemingly in no hurry to get anywhere, so it is a great people watching locale.
We come on business trips here and find it a very metropolitan experience. Whether breakfast or lunch it is a first class meal.

“Outstanding food with the atmosphere to match”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013 via mobile

We went here on our second night in New York and we were not disappointed, my husband had an amazing lamb dish which was melt in the mouth, the rest of us were equally impressed. Fab food and wine, and the atmosphere cannot be beaten, busy busy busy, must book. Not cheap but well worth it!

Fantastic food, great hangover cure, bit pricey but very much worth it. Service was incredible. Can't complain at all.
