“Great place to eat late in New York”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

Have you ever tried finding a place after eleven to eat in NYC ? it's difficult .
We went around 11.15 pm on a Sunday night the place was empty .They invited us in straight away.
We found the food a little expense about $30 per dish , $49 for a rack of lamb .
We ordered the cheapest bottle of red $50 :It was good .
I had the duck , it was OK , a little to salty for my taste .
At that time, probably the main chef had probably left .
The place is comfortable , with a lot of artwork on the walls .
The service was good .

“A little bit of Paris in Manhattan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

I celebrated my December birthday at Raoul's on a cold, snowy night in New York and could not have been more pleased! We booked our reservation through Open Table, and when we got there, they at first seated us in the busy, noisy front area which was fine...but not really perfect. (It had the clamorous atmosphere of a bistro but we were thinking of something a bit more quiet, romantic and intimate.) After about 5 minutes had passed, a very observant maitre'd came over and asked if we might like to consider the back room. He suggested we take a look...which we did...and it was ideal! Quiet, romantic and exactly what we had hoped for. We never complained and would have had a fine meal where we were, but I was really impressed with the intuitive awareness of that maitre d. He clearly was paying attention and taking care of his guests.

The meal was sensational! Great wines on offer, superb duck breast, lovely traditional French items and a brilliant dessert surprise that came with a "cage" of crystallized sugar over it...the service was attentive and professional, but never suffocating or overbearing. The room was comfortable and the whole feeling of the place evoked our many visits to Paris. I highly recommend Raoul's.

“Steak and frites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

Recommended by our hotel concierge this place was a good surprise.

Our steaks were very good and they have a nice short wine list. Service was very friendly and laid back. Their creme brûlée was very good.

The only think we didnt like was the ambiance. Since in our group some were older people the dark black walls were a little too uncomfortable.

On the other side I really have to praise how they keep their kitchen. There is a little passage trough the kitchen on the way to the terrace. Everything tidy and in order.

“Always worth a visit if you can get in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Raoul's is always worth a visit if you can get in. The wine list is excellent, and the quality of the food, whether the basic bistro chicken or steak frite plate, or some of the more amazing plates, is always top rate. We eat out and eat well, and this is always on the short list of places to return to, and a must for a birthday dinner or other celebration. Not uncommon to have some star sightings here, but the wine, food and overall environment are the true stars.
