“Trendy atmosphere, delicious food and big open windows looking out to the West Village streets”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

Newly opened and much hyped Marrow. New place in West Village that must be visited. I stopped by on a Friday night at around 8pm and was not surprised when I got denied. Place was at capacity. Lesson? Make a reservation! So that's what I did, had a lovely meal and an evening of people watching. I really like this restaurant. Trendy atmosphere inside, big open windows looking out to the West Village streets, delicious food and cocktails, great place all around.

“Great new restaurant with great food and outstanding service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

Really enjoyed this new place in the West Village. The menu is a fusion of Italian and German cuisine and it is outstanding. I enjoyed an Arctic char appetizer and chose the spaghettini appetizer as my entree. My friends had the pâté starter which was superb. The monk fish with porcini mushrooms, crispy lamb chops and haddock were to die for. The "baby chicken" dish was disappointing. The flavor tasted as if it had been charcoal grilled and it was underdone (or maybe I just like my poultry too well done). Jean (maître'd) was warm and welcoming and the service was outstanding! Go!

“Inventive and a chance for something new”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013 via mobile

Had been looking forward to coming here for some weeks. The menu looks interesting and the wine list is week-priced. Staff very charming and knew how to pace the evening - leaving diners to enjoy their meal without constant interruption. Place had a good buzz and felt on trend whilst also offering culinary satisfaction.

“Inventive, not enough flavor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

Second time to the Marrow. The space is nice to see open again and the food was inventive/creative but just about every dish was lacking the amazing flavor factor. Bacon wrapped dates, fettucine, hen of the woods, swiss chard, polenta... all great ideas but could barely taste them. Dessert was a chocolate cake with home made ice cream... even the ice cream was more icey than creamy. Service was excellent but seems the manager is hawking over the servers. The manager should spend less time yelling at servers for customers that poured their own wine and more time talking to the chef that the food needs serious help.

“Great Meal - Very Interesting Menu Concept”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Recently went to The Marrow with my wife. Overall a great experience.

The menu is interestingly divided into two sides an italian side and german side, inspired by the chef's heritage. I was impressed by the concept and enjoyed the food even more.

We ordered pretzel soup and braised short rip (which was excellent) and the Waguyu beef (good but not amazing). For dessert we had a carrot cake special which was fantastic.

The service was fantastic as our waiter was patient, knowledgable, friendly and always available.

Bottom: Don't be scared of the eclectic menu. Embrace it and enjoy.
