There are no deals in this tourist area of New York but this hotel will give you the biggest bang for your buck! Remodelled, sleek, modern design. Small kitchen complete with a slow cooker, toaster, bowls, cups, glasses, utensils, dish liquid, etc. Comfy bed and quiet, even with a street view. Fruit infused water in the lobby, a gym, all inclusive Wi-Fi and complementary newspapers and breakfast in the morning (breakfast in many places in this area cost $20/person). We would definitely stay here again.

Green Features: - eco shower, encouraged to reuse bath towels - lights come on with card - toilets use dual flush option

If you're willing to forgo room service, I have a great suggestion. Take a left off of Lexington on to 48th, pass the Hotel Lexington (bed bugs) and stop on in to the Residence Inn. Newly remodeled appointments at reasonable prices await. Pros: value, small kitchens, new rooms and fixtures, expansive breakfast included, great gym. Cons: no room service, no concierge lounge. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

We just returned from a five day vacation to NYC which we stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn in Midtown. The location is centrally located to all the major attractions and has everything you need. Our room had a complete kitchen and the hotel offered a free full breakfast every morning which was delicious. We will definitely stay here every time we travel to NYC.

Room Tip: If you can travel during the week it is less crowded than the busy weekend.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

We stayed at the Residence Inn Manhattan/Midtown East for eleven night while going around New York seeing the sights and just relaxing.

The location was excellent especially with Grand Central Station being so close. Moving around the city using subways and walking was very convenient. There were several shops and restaurants in the near area and we recommend going to the Morton Williams Supermarket that’s two blocks away. You can find all the basic groceries and beverages easily nearby.

The hotel and our room was in great condition and everything was nicely cool during the very hot summer days. Everything was very clean and the hotel has a business center and a training room for those who need them. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room had a full kitchen with a large refrigerator and a dishwasher. You could make meals and keep your snacks and beverages cool without any problems.

That being said there were still some areas that could use some improvement.

As europeans we are accustomed to several fresh vegetables (cucumber, salads, tomato etc.) and a variety of meats (bacon, different kinds of sliced cold meats etc.) for breakfast. The hotel breakfast was a bit lacking and there wasn’t that much to choose from. It might be an American thing since the it was quite heavy and based primary on different kinds of eggs, breakfast patties and bagels. The only fresh vegetable was sliced tomato on two mornings. Luckily there was always oatmeal, yoghurt and a couple different fruits, The breakfast area can get very crowded during peak hours, so we recommend going early.

The housekeeping was disappointing. The room was always clean and everything looked great when walking in, but there was almost always something missing. It was usually at least one or two very basic things (no new detergent tablets, no dish wash liquid, no extra toilet paper, kitchen towel disappeared, kitchen trash wasn’t emptied - two times in fact!). Most of the times when we came back the room and the bathroom smelled stuffy and musty. The amount of tip didn’t have any effect on those things. Small things do matter, so maybe the checklist needs tightening.

At the moment there is a construction site next door (on the E 47th St), so beware if you’re a light sleeper. They usually start banging at 7 in the morning the latest, so check it you can get a room that’s not next to it.

Overall thanks for a great stay and hopefully you keep improving the hotel. We had a good time in the city and the hotel offered a good place to rest and gather your strength.

Room Tip: Construction site on the E 47th St.

Dear Ten_Forward-

Thank you for your review on TripAdvisor and for staying with us at the Residence Inn by Marriott Midtown East.

I am pleased to hear that your enjoyed our central location in the heart of midtown and service oriented team. As a Marriott Platinum, I was upgraded to a penthouse suite (18th floor) -- with a terrace! What a treat in midtown. Not a huge room, but comfortable, decent size bathroom, and fresh decor. The full breakfast was simple but served hot, and staff kept the very busy dining room clean and tables wiped. Very nice front desk staff and helpful concierge. Definitely would stay here again.

Room Tip: Full kitchens with dishes and so on. Great for families.

This is an overdue review I've been meaning to write for a couple of months. I organized the housing for a group of teenage dancers visiting New York in April. It is a bit of a challenge in manhatten to find rooms suitable for 4 people with fridges and microwaves (essential when you are staying for a week!) We had people arriving at different times, checking and checking out at different times assorted other details and the staff handled everything without a hitch. They were polite, accommodating and professional. We had a minor issue in our room... the water in the shower did not get hot. I called the front desk and they sent up a maintenance man in what seemed like 30 seconds. In addition to being efficient, he was also very friendly. As he left he asked if there was anything else we needed. Only half-jokingly, my daughter asked for more of the mini-muffins served at breakfast. He laughed and said the kitchen was closed. But ten minutes later, he shows up with a plate of muffins. Now, that is service! And just typical of everyone we dealt with in the hotel. Will definitely choose this property again!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street are a little louder, but not a problem.
