“If you have a choice, go with this one”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 25, 2014

I am a very jaded business traveler, and if a place is clean and quiet I am usually happy. But this property is really a step up. Immaculate, new, and yes, quiet. Check in was very good, with really pleasant staff who worked to accommodate my wishes. I was a little worried about having a second floor overlooking 48th street but the new windows are magic and I barely heard anything. Also did not hear any other visitors. I had a king room which had a very comfy easy chair, desk, and kitchenette. The downside was that there was no room for a little table where two people could sit eating, only one chair at the desk.
Lots of nice small seating areas on the first floor for casual meetings.
Very strong internet signal, lots of hot water.
Nice exercise room with about six machines and some weights and apples.
The breakfast was top notch. Definitely a better than the ones you get at Hampton Inns, and better than most of the $16 buffets you pay for in Hiltons. Included turkey sausage and egg whites as options.
The location is six blocks from Grand Central terminal where you can get the 4,5,6,s or three blocks from the number 6 which I took downtown.
On Lexington ave at the corner are cheap but ok eating options. Also lots of upscale restaurants in the area.

Boutiquey, never knew it was there - very convenient for 3rd Avenue restaurants, 3 big blocks from Subway (which i never took), close to midtown businesses (law firms, accountants etc). Btrerakfast was ok not great, kitchen and decor was impressive. Staff helpful.

We had the East Side Story Suite with terrace. My two kids, 5 & 10 shared the sofabed and there was a king size bed in the bedroom. Having the terrace was lovely and the separate room really helped with the jetlag as if someone managed to get to sleep, the rest could be watching telly in the other room. Kitchen more than sufficient, only downside was two bar stools at a bench for dining rather than 4. Was surprised and disappointed that the sofa bed wasn't made up when we arrived at 1am local after a 15 hour flight and a terrible experience getting taxi from EWR. Had to ring front desk for linen and found myself making bed at 1am. It clearly stated on booking 4pax, so not sure where staff expected them to sleep? Breakfast room staff very helpful and friendly and plentiful if average breakfast. WiFi in room very good speed and main bed comfortable. Found the market "Longwood Gourmet" on the opposite corner with Lexington to be wonderful resource as open 24hours, hot fresh food that we could bring back to the room at all sorts of odd hours to feed kids. 12 hour jetlag is difficult! Enjoyed that the room shared no walls with another guest suite, so wasn't constantly shushing kids up at 3am watching telly. Safe area, good for walking to Times Sq, Grand Central and American Girl with my 5 year old. Would stay again. Oh, quite a bit of street noise, even up on the top floor, but hey, it is Manhattan! It is to be expected in a cheaper chain like this. My husband and kids didn't even notice. It's just mum who is the light sleeper. Please note that the railing around the terrace is perhaps chest height on me (173cm) and my 10 year old could easily open the door to the terrace as the deadbolt wasn't working. However, there is a hook right at the top of the door that he couldn't reach (147cm) without standing on a chair. I wasn't worried about my 5 year old being able to open it by herself. However, there are chairs and tables out there and if I had a toddler I'd be terrified to let them out there, you couldn't turn your back for a second. A chair pushed up to the railing would be the work of a minute for an adventurous toddler. I thought the hotel good value and good location for what we paid, would stay again.

*Good midtown location, but it's a 3 block walk to the subway, so if you plan to use the subway consider the extra time and walking distance. Nice to be on a "street" (48th) as they tend to be quieter than the avenues (streets are narrower, so less traffic).
*Breakfast is OK. Hot eggs, meat, etc. as well as fresh fruit, cereals, bagels/muffins/toast, etc.
*Staff were friendly and anxious to help. Only problem was the complete absence of any personnel when we returned to the hotel once at 1:30 a.m. Anybody from the street could have gone through to the elevator and up to any floor. Presume they have cameras, but might have hoped for a live person somewhere in the lobby.
*Asked for a quiet room, so they put us in the back. We had a large construction project out the window which was fairly noisy at times. But hey -- it's New York!
*Comfortable beds and good linens. Housekeeping was only so-so: one day they didn't empty our waste baskets and once they left our room without any (I mean ANY) TP! Called housekeeping and they came within 5 minutes with one roll.
*Kitchen facilities very nice -- new and clean. We used it less than we'd planned, but not because of any fault with what was there.
*Lots of families in the hotel. We are an older couple but enjoyed sharing the hotel with families. Our room was very quiet with no noise from the hall or other rooms (just the construction noise that bled through the window) even when the hotel was full.

The prices varied by day and some days were crazy high. But that's another conversation -- what are you gonna do if the middle of a long stay is one pricey day? We were there 8 nights, 3 on points and they insisted on giving us the cheapest nights on points. Fair enough.

This is one of the best properties that I have stayed in NYC (and we've stayed in a lot and lived here). The staff was incredibly helpful and professional, the rooms were clean and I wanted a 'quiet room' and I got it. I will definitely stay at this property again--in Mid-town. Loved it.

Room Tip: I'm a light sleeper, so ask for a room in the back of the property, facing 47th.

Great location- nice room, clean and.quiet. Small kitchenette. N ice full breakfast. Small issue that hotel manager says she would fix next time: bathroom door did not shut completely-- it was a sliding door- very odd for an American hotel.

Room Tip: Corner-- quiet --Avoid sliding door bathroom.
