This was our family's first time in New York. With two college kids - The Affinia Dumont was the perfect place for us. We were able to walk to a lot of our destinations; the subway was right there; great restaurants within blocks including a fabulous sushi restaurant that we can't wait to get back to! I have to say that the concierge was one of the best I've seen. He was amazing!!! The only bad part about the trip was having to leave.

My husband and a friend of mine decided to stay at Affinia Dumont based on other positive reviews. I was not disappointed! I have to say this by far one of the best values in NY!
We arrived by taxi from LGA airport. It cost us about $50 taxi fare, but we were getting to the hotel around 4 pm and there was a bad accident about a block up from our hotel. After getting out of the taxi I went right to the front desk. I had no wait to check in. I had e-mailed the hotel concierge about a week prior to our stay requesting to make sure we were given a room with 2 beds (no pull out couch) and also requested a higher room with a view if possible. I also had asked some airport transfer questions and was told the room would be verified by guest services and my questions were answered promptly. Upon check-in we were put in room 3506, so 35th floor and our room looked both out onto the Hudson and also the Freedom Tower. WOW factor achieved!
Our room was very clean (spacious according to my sister who travels to NY on business often) and roomy for 3 people. The location was great! We were next door to a Duane Reade (Drug Store), a deli, and donut shop. We were able to walk EVERYWHERE from the hotel, which we did. Most of the tourist things were only a short walk (about a mile or less). We stayed with Affinia Dumont for 5 nights and in that time frame we managed to walk 42 miles (I had on a pedometer), but we took in just about every Christmas tourist thing you could imagine!
We did also take in wine hour from 5-6 our first night. Great welcome, but didn't love the wine selection so this was our only night joining. The wine server was VERY friendly and kept offering refills!
The only cons I would say to the hotel would be that for being on the 35th floor you still heard the sirens pretty clear (they do provide earplugs), but it is close to a hospital so that explains the sirens. The other con would be that they have a pillow menu and we changed pillows almost every night and didn't love the pillows. They pretty much were all flat and little support. I used 3 pillows and was fine, but my travel companions did not appreciate the pillows.
Overall, I think our hotel was my favorite part of vacation. At the end of a long day of crowds and rude people it was nice to come back to friendly workers, a clean room, and a comfortable hotel. Thank you Affinia Dumont!!

Four of us shared a large room here for four nights in October. It was an excellent family option. The two queen beds were perfect for our daughters and us to share without feeling squashed. Nice big room with plenty of storage and even a full kitchen! Very clean and comfortable. Good location for city bus tours and sightseeing, very close to wonderful curry restaurants on Lexington and 33rd. I would highly recommend this for a family. Views of the river and excellent sound proofing too.

My sister and I were in NYC (from Chicago) for 30 hours for a medical appointment. The doctor's office recommended the Affinia Dumont because it was within walking distance of the office. We booked a room on-line after the medical appointment was secured. Easy online process; received immediate confirmation.
The small suite was very comfortable, good beds and pillows. Quiet room, great water pressure with plenty of hot water. Finding such a large TV (must have been 40"+) was a nice surprise.
As we were in town only for a medical appointment, we did not have the opportunity to take advantages of the hotel's amenities nor did we get to see much of the city. We would not hesitate to stay again at the Affinia Dumont.

My wife and I chose the Affinia for our Christmas break to NY for the location and price. Check in was fine and the room was spotless. We paid for the wifi which enabled Internet access on two devices. Great for calling home via FaceTime or Skype without the charges. We did have to sign up to the internet twice but the second one was refunded when checking out

We paid for a skyline view and was not disappointed. Our room was 3404 so it was one of the top floors. However we had to move rooms due to the central window suffering from condensation. This could not be cleaned as it was a problem with the window/frame. Having paid for the view we felt we had to move as the Chrysler building looked hazy. The room we moved to was 2904 but was identical so it felt like home!

The housekeeping were efficient and always called to see if we needed anything on the days we did not require room service.

On two separate occasions our key card to the room did not work. This was frustrating especially after getting to the 29th floor with shopping bags, only to have to leave your wife outside the bedroom door whilst I went back down to reception to queue and reactivate the card. I was a little put out when I was told it was my fault for leaving the card near coins or keys even though it was kept on its own in my back pocket. Our only other concern was the heating system was temperamental. It took a bit of time changing the control settings to get the heater to blow warm air

Overall the hotel was conveniently placed for all the attractions especially Madison Square Garden. Having a kitchen was great as it meant we could keep a stock of snacks purchased from the nearby grocery store

We would have no hesitation to book here again and loved our 7 night stay

The limo company this hotel recommended was trashy and disgusting. We were picked up in limo that hadn't been cleaned in years. We didn't get curbside pick up at the airport as promised. We had to walk a far distance in the wet snow while our limo driver ran ahead of us. At one point we were certain he was taking off with our luggage never to be seen again. Based on the fact that a 4 star hotel is recommending a 1/2 star limo company is the sole reason I will never stay here again or recommend others to stay here. Take yourself a few blicks over and stay somewhere else.

We booked with this hotel because we wanted to be in midtown Manhattan and we needed enough space to entertain some friends. We also wanted a kitchenette. This turned out to be the ideal place. The room was quite spacious and included a large desk, a sofa, coffee table and extra chairs. It easily accommodated 9 people for a small get-together. The kitchenette was a separate room and was quite adequately equipped for warming up food and even for simple preparations.

We specifically requested a room with a view of the Chrysler Building, so we were quite disappointed that there was a big smudge in the window obscuring the building we wanted to see. When we reported this, the hotel offered to clean the window immediately. It was already late in the day, so we said it was okay for them to clean the window the next when we were out. Well, not only was the window spotless the next day, management left a bottle of wine and snacks along with a note of apology. Now, that's classy.

It's not really a 4 star place, but since they were so accommodating and the location is so great, I bumped them up to 5.
