We had a junior suite, high floor, great size room for a NY hotel. The view was beautiful, and the bed was quite comfortable. That's the good news. However, there is NOTHING luxury about this hotel. The staff is very friendly - in fact they are actually informal - almost uncomfortably so. The elevators were kind of dingy, the hallway ok. The room was clean enough. The bathroom was SO small there was no where to set anything but on the floor. The shower head was SO old only a few streams came through and the water would go hot, warm, hot, etc. The towels were horrible - they were paper thin and rough! I asked for nicer ones and I just got whiter paper thin rough towels - like cheap roadside motel towels.
This is simply not a luxury hotel. They don't act it, they don't treat you like it, and it's not finished that way. It was fine, but you can simply do better for this price in NY. I have traveled for many years to NY and you'd be better off at one of the mass production Marriotts. I would not stay here again, but wouldn't warn someone not to - just be aware that luxury won't be found here! It's comfortable, warm, and friendly though.
