“Just what we needed!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Stayed 2 nights. Friendly, affordable and clean, close to Times Sq. Simple traditional decor. We got 2 good sized rooms with comfy beds. Street facing room was a bit noisy, other rear facing room was quiet. Good location and a handy deli next door for late night snacks!

When I travel to NYC, I'm going to explore the city (not hang out in a hotel). All I need is a clean room to sleep in and a clean bathroom to shower, and this fits the bill. No frills, but none needed! The rooms are large and clean, the bathrooms are perfectly fine, and you cannot beat the location - it is one block east of Times Square! You can get anywhere in New York City from here by walking or hopping on a subway or bus. We stay here each time we are in NYC, as you cannot beat the location or the price!

The only complaint I have is that there are only two elevators, and it is hit or miss as to whether one or both of them are working at any given time. Because the elevators are unreliable, I would recommend asking to stay on the lowest floor possible in case you find yourself needing to use the steps. Other than that, this is the perfect place to rest your weary head between adventures!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the lowest level possible in case the elevators aren't working. Rooms on the b...

Great location within walking distance of Times Square and Rockefeller Plaza. Several nearby places to eat. Room was clean with plenty of space for four travelers. Only issue was lack of hot water on two mornings. Would stay here again.

This was the 2nd time staying here the location is superb right near Times Square and a couple of local delis for meals, and found the rooms very clean. Just be aware we had two other couples with us and the rooms sizes all varied, from small, medium and then ours which was large.
I would stay here again in heartbeat as we transit thru NY a lot, this is the perfect spot for it all Cant beat value for money!!!

This is a kind of budget room only hotel and that is what we were looking for. It was central in Manhattan ...just 5 min from Time Square. The room was a good size, and very clean and tidy. The bathroom was very clean and everything we needed .You will find there is a New York Deli just next door ....all the locals go there ....so we did to and it was great. The manager we dealt with was Joey and he was from Brooklyn.... he was such a nice guy and made us so welcome ....I liked him a lot ... I even made a little video with him ...just for fun . This is not a 5 star hotel ...But if you are looking for a good.... Central Hotel.....that is pleasant ....very clean....and with a good price ....this is it. We would go back there.

We just wanted somewhere clean that we could get a good nights sleep in. We stayed 4 nights end of June 2014. We had upgraded to a king room when we booked on Expedia, however, we did not receive this when we checked in and could not be accommodated, or our extra expense reimbursed. This is why I did not give a 5 star rating. We were moved to a king room for our second night. There were renovations going on and the front of the hotel was covered in scaffolding. Friends of our staying in the front of the hotel were disturbed by renovation noise much more than we were in the back of the hotel.
The location makes up for all of this though.
This was my first trip to New York City. It there were accommodations in the same price range with as good of a location, I may try somewhere else, but I don't think there is.
Overall with the price and the location we were very satisfied.

Booked after seeing the location, price and reviews on trip advisor and very glad i did.

Hotel is literally 40 seconds walk to times square(half a block).

We paid £40 more for a king room on the 12th floor. Room was dated but very spacious and clean. The only downside being the shower was just dribbling out at sometimes (probably us being on the top floor and using it at peak times) so had to wait abit to shower properly.

The hotel is dated but is clean and has a rustic charm about it.

The deli nextdoor does really nice breakfasts so dont miss it.

Reception and staff were all friendly and helpful.

Im really glad i stayed here as the location is literally second to none and was a pleasant hotel to stay in considering it was so cheap!

Would definetly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: might be worth paying the small amount to upgrade to a king room.
