“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

The hotel was a perfect location with great service. Shopping and restaurants were very convenient. The only challenge we had was the air conditioning was a bit suspect. Oh, and John the Doorman was fantastic.

Dear Stephen T,

Thank you for the positive review. We apologize again for any inconvenience with your air conditioning unit and are taking extra measures to prevent technical difficulties from arising in the future. Next time we’ll lead you towards top options to make your stay even more enjoyable. Head to Chelsea Market to find places to eat and shop. Check out sample sales for designer deals and dine at renowned restaurants, such as Cull and Pistol. John and our doorman will be pleased to hear of your kind sentiments! We hope to see you again.

Sincerely,

@HotelGansevoort

The rooftop pool area was the best place for watching the NYC 4th of July fireworks. The staff was friendly and helpful. We were there with our kids and they were very accommodating.
The rooms were comfortable. I would say 3-4 start quality. There were some cosmetic things that could get repaired but overall very nice.
The area is great and is in walking distance to many restaurants and attractions.

Dear E P,

Thank you for the review. We’re delighted you spent the festive Fourth of July holiday with us – we have one of the best views of the fireworks over the Hudson. As you mentioned, our downtown location puts us in an ideal spot for restaurants and city activities. If you choose to stay with us again, check out our newly opened eatery, The Chester, for fresh American cuisine. Enjoy an alfresco breakfast experience – the raised waffles with maple ice cream and blueberry syrup will satisfy any morning sweet tooth. We hope to see you all again soon!

Sincerely,

@HotelGansevoort

Half way through the stay, so far so good. Very friendly staff from the door staff to the reception team.
Nice size room with good view, and a pool on the roof with an even better view. May try the gym before dinner as I hear that is well fitted out.
All in all a good hotel in a great city.

Knew about this hotel from others who had stayed there. Wife and I were looking for a hotel in a happening area of NYC so this was and is a good place for a lot of activity.
Stay was good but room/bathroom was very small--however quite typical of NYC hotels. Little worn in a few places but I can be very picky with that stuff. On the plus side we did have a small terrace which was great. Spent some time up at their famous rooftop pool deck/bar which was a lot of fun, especially with a good group of friends.
Be prepared to spend a lot of money....

Room Tip: ask for a room with a terrace though they are on the lower flloors so more noise.

Dear Dale O,

Thank you for the review. We’re glad you got away from the bustling streets and took advantage of all that our rooftop has to offer. It’s the perfect place to lounge above the skyline anytime of the year. Did you get to check out any of the local downtown restaurants? You can find delicious modern American cuisine at the chic, nearby Manon. Their red snapper with lobster broth, melted leeks, PEI mussels and chervil is one of the many dishes that stands out. Next time you stay with us, our concierge team will lead you towards even more Manhattan gems.

Best,

What a location,and our room was a good size compared to the other one,not far away,where we stayed the previous night.Also better service and for us smokers,a roof terrace where we could indulge,and in contrast, get fit in the good sized outdoor pool provided.
Can't think of another hotel with a pool table in the ground level bar - how cool is that!!

We stayed in this hotel on our last trip to New York for two nights. We love the meatpacking district and have stayed in other hotels in the area before so wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, the whole experience was very average for us. There was nothing about this hotel that stood out or screamed of an exceptional experience. We travel a lot and like to go to different places and didn't find the hotel to have a vibe that you would expect in such a cool and trendy area. The pool on the rooftop is nice but very plain, the deck on the top floor is nice but doesn't have anything special about it. The rooftop turns into a nightclub late evening and you have a lot of "excited" people trying to get upstairs, you dont' want to be on a high floor since the music can be so loud. I found the staff tried their best but it was not exceptional. Overall, I would not go back as the rooms are nice but the overall stay was nothing to write home about.

Dear Jenya K,

Thank you for the review. We are sincerely disappointed your experience did not meet your expectations. We hope you were at least able to enjoy a quenching cocktail and the panoramic views of the city and the Hudson River from Plunge Lounge. During the evening hours, our rooftop is a popular nightlife spot attracting a lively crowd and we apologize for the bustle. Perhaps you might enjoy staying at our Park Avenue location with a panoramic view of the majestic Empire State building. The Meatpacking District is a trendy neighborhood and we strive to add to it with our chic, downtown vibe. It’s a shame you didn’t feel we did this successfully and we would love a second chance to surpass your needs at either locations. Please contact digital@theghg.com with any further concerns or questions.

Sincerely,

@HotelGansevoort

This is our top pick for a hotel downtown. It's location close to the High Line and Hudson River Park is a big bonus. And the rooftop pool with exquisite views is open all year for swimming and gazing at the eye-popping views of Freedom Tower, Empire State Building, Hudson River. Suring our last visit, we had an air conditioning malfunction in our room and Jonathan at the front desk bent over backwards to make it right. He offered options to have an engineer check it out and repair or to have us moved into another room. The problem was fixed and Jonathan checked back with us twice to be sure we were comfortable. He offered us service with a smile.

Dear SassySuzie,

Thank you for the lovely review. We’re thrilled you enjoyed everything from our rooftop to the various nearby attractions in our downtown location. There’s nothing like sipping on a refreshing cocktail above the skyline while looking out onto expansive views of our beloved city and the Hudson. We apologize again for the air conditioning issue, but are pleased it was resolved immediately and with sincere care. We will be sure to pass along your sentiments to Jonathan and the rest of our team. Next time you stay with us or are in the area, stop by our new American eatery, The Chester, for a delicious bite. Check it out here: http://bit.ly/1dZVV4W. We hope to see you in the future!
