“Outstanding Front Desk Employees: Lisa and Jasnery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I am writing my first review because I have just had the most amazing experience at the Wyndham Midtown 45 with Lisa and Jasnery at the front desk.
My family and I just arrived to NYC from Miami for Thanksgiving and they did everything possible to make sure that our family would have a memorable time in the city and more importantly in their hotel.
Being avid travelers, we appreciate great service and felt compelled to share our experience.

Location is awesome! 10 minutes away from Grand Central Station and 15 minutes away from Times Square and Empire State Building. I must say that most of the hotels in America has an issue with their air ventilations in their bathrooms, all smoked up and takes a while for it to subside. Also the cabinet doors in the room was faulty, just due to wear and tear. the hotel must be quite old. We did had an issue with the bathroom being all clogged up after our first night but they fixed it right away which is awesome. The reception staff is amazing however its really hard to get the porter to assist you! They either just stare at you getting your heavy luggages out of the cab or needed the reception to tell them to assist the guests!

Room Tip: Get a room with the Empire State/Chrysler building view!

A wonderful experience - terrific location - right in the middle of Manhatten. Wyndham staff were wonderful, friendly, helpful ---couldn't ask for more. Our room was spacious and perfect with all the most modern and new conveniences. The bed was soooooo comfortable and every detail was taken care of promptly if we called the front desk (missing newspaper). Laundry room, workout room, all new and top notch. We are going back for another week as soon as we can swing it!!

Room Tip: Upper floor with good view of the street (45th St.) from large windows

I stayed at this hotel 4 times in a row over the last month so I've gotten to know the place quite well. The location is absolutely perfect, a mere couple blocks from Grand Central, although not many cab drivers seem to be aware of it and the facade of the building looks just like any other office building. You should know that there are two sides to the hotel. The smaller tower only has individual rooms, the other has mostly full suites with living/dining room and a full kitchenette.Having had the chance to stay in different types of rooms, I'd recommend you get a suite whenever you can.
Overall, the rooms are quite spacious, at least for Manhattan, clean and well-appointed, with plenty of closet space.
A little bonus: there is a hospitality suite and walk-out terrace on the 33rd floor with a sweeping view of the city.If you're there on an evening when the weather is nice, you must absolutely check this out.
Other tip: some of the room packages do include an American BF. Make sure you ask for it, even if it's not specifically mentioned. The hotel restaurant is currently undergoing renovation so the hotel is giving out BF coupons to a food shop nearby.

Room Tip: You should know that there are two sides to the hotel. The smaller tower only has individual rooms...

stayed here with my wife 2 weeks ago for the New York City Marathon.. all the staff are awesome and go above and beyond with customer service. Door man (his name was similar to Egor) was very pleasant and always helped us with all our needs. The hotel is 2 blocks away from Grand Central Station.. the bathrooms were spacious and also had a tv in the bathroom. the hotel is in the mist of renovation.

We had stayed here before in its earlier iteration as The Alex -- this was about two years ago. It was fine then, and in two years, it has taken on the patina of another two years of wear and tear. Wyndham has purchased the hotel, and are converting it to a time share property, and little capital expense is being spent in rooms it would appear, as they are concentrating on renovating the rooms for the conversion. Prices haven't really gone down given the lack of upkeep, and I guess that's the root of my discontent.

The suites are spacious, the beds comfortable, but it's just the little things that make it seem just a little off, given the price. Like the door stop that lay on the floor broken off the door, the furniture in the suite that was off its hinges, the couch which looked like it had seen better days. It's just a bit beaten up, and the wi-fi kind of sucks.

If it were just a little cheaper, or if it just had a little bit of attention to the small guest things, it would have been perfect -- much like it was when it was The Alex.
