“Dark and Dated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

The room was cramped and awkward, with almost nowhere to put my luggage. It was dark with only a few spotty lamps for lighting and the Ikea-like closet/shelves were missing a door (not to mention blocking part of the walkway). The bathroom was brighter but the shower was out-dated, which was odd considering there was a flat-screen TV in the bathroom. The room wasn't the worst, but it definitely needed some love.

We stayed in a suite with a kitchen on the south east corner 2902. This is a hotel/timeshare property. So if you need the space go for the space with a kitchen upgrade. Found via Jettsetter at about $400/night average. Great Staff from the front desk to house keeping. May be the best house keeping ever!
The good: 3 closets, massive for NYC. A kitchen with subzero fridge, dishwasher, electric cook top, combination microwave/convection oven. There's a amish grocery across the street, and many smaller organic markets popping up all over. Plenty of seating area and a large dining table that can double as a work area. View of the east river and south to the Chrysler building. There are spectacular night views from the roof top lounge. It's about 2 blocks to Grand Central Station.
The "Could be better": OK, worse bed ever. You feel every spring and every thing else is so soft that there's no support. We both felt like we had been beaten up when we got out the bed each morning. To their credit the staff did provide an additional mattress pad and offered to move us. But really it's a 4 star, beds are important. The theme is atomic/modern decor. Suggestion- there are/were doors on the tall cabinets; so make a decision take them off fill and the holes or leave them on (I think on is cool). However, in the bed room one door is off and one is on. This means that you will leave them open, which also means in the middle of the night your option is to take out a shoulder on the door and/or bang an ankle on the platform bed. The other thing to be aware of is new york is loud, you have sirens going past midnight and jackhammers at 7:00a.m., what is it about this location that makes in seem so much louder than other places, may just be there are more windows, so take ear plugs.

Wifi, has a free level, but if you stream video's the higher speed is $15.95/day.

Better bed, and we would consider staying here again.

Upon arrival, the front desk was training a new guy. Sergio, (guy in training) was very friendly. 3 days later we returned to your hotel. Sergio seemed to have caught on very fast. He did an excellent job.

The saving grace was Maria go to her for all your needs and with a smile on her face nothing is impossible. Stayed in a one bedroom suite which had a comfortable bed. While there was enough space the furniture in the room especially the sofa in crying to be upgraded. I love the privacy of this small boutique hotel and the convinience in location. I wish they serve better breakfast and they upgrade the restaurant on the ground floor. No complaint and nothing impressive too. At best it was average. Maria may it a noth higher to above average. She was just genuinely warm.

This was our first time at the WM45. It was pricey but it delivered. It's a very tall building (33 floors), but the 2 elevators seem to handle the load even during changeover. Our booking included an "American Breakfast" (2 eggs, sausage or bacon, toast, juice, coffee/tee) which is custom cooked (not buffet). The bar/dining area is adequate for the purpose. It was mentioned that the facility hasn't been fully "Wyndham-ized" yet, which I think means more changes to come. The room was typical by NYC standards. Very interesting furniture and fittings, all designed to save space when things are not in use. The kitchen had a HUGE fridge (3 doors) - I suspect that someONE could stay for a longer period on a business trip and actually use the fridge and stove. There was a TV in the bathroom, and a "powerful" TOTO toilet. In our room (3203), the shower is tricky to navigate because of the sliding glass doors and the position of the sink - to turn on the shower.... then you need to slide the doors to access the back of the tub. BE CAREFUL... the back of the tub is curved, so you need to step in carefully, and squeeze a bit past the glass door. If you're not a little nimble there may be a problem in this particular bathroom. Checking in/out was efficient, checking bags after checkout worked great. Door/lobby crew are very helpful with cabs/luggage etc. Our view was looking south/downtown and to the east river... with the Chrysler building being squarely in view.

Room Tip: The higher, the better the view. South and East are good if high. not sure about the north & w...

Really the staff was very helpful with us. It was a very nice and quiet in fl. 28 just looking to the Chrysler building. The location was exellent as we used the subway (Grand Central station) to go to all places to visit. However the furniture wasn´t in a good condition, the night tables were broken and the wardrobe door as well.
Also I must thank to Elizabeth and his staff all the good moments I pass together with my wife and my son. I will recomend this hotel to my friends and relatives. May be next year I will stay again.

Room Tip: Higher floors are better and quiet.
