“Not ready for prime time.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

I travelled with a party of 4 adults and 3 children. I booked 2 rooms, each of which had a bedroom and a pullout sofa. When I arrived, they confirmed that I was supposed to get those rooms, but they only had 1 room with the sofa bed and the 2nd room did not have one. We asked if we could get a crib or a cot. They said they had neither but would give me free parking, I said that was very nice, but where were he all supposed to sleep. They said the smaller room had a mini couch that the toddler could sleep in. They also promised that we would have our confirmed room the next day. Just pack our suitcases and leave them in the room. They would move them to our new room. The baby fell off the couch and noone got a good night's sllep. The next day, they again said they didn't have a new room, but for sure they would have one the next day. Again we packed up our suitcases and again they did not have a room. This happened THREE times. There were other problems also. So what should they have done? Send someone out to buy a crib or a cot. Every hotel should have several. They had none! Or else allow us to stay in the penthouse bedrooms which were unoccupied. At the very least, there should have been no charge for at least one of the 2 rooms if not both. What did they do? They offered me a voucher for 5 days at any Wyndham timeshare BUT I can't make a reservation more than 60 days in advance. At 60 days it's unlikely there will be any availability.

Room Tip: Don't choose any room until they get their act together.

Location is prime as it is close to subways, Grand Central Station, and Times Square. The best part of the place was the front desk staff who went out of their way to make my mother's birthday celebration very special.

Room Tip: Ask for newly refurbished room.

Allowed us to change rooms when I booked a king bed on accident, rooms are clean. Gym in basement were decent and comp. breakfast was good. I recommend staying if you want to be close to Times Square.

Just returned from 10 days at this hotel and we were pretty disappointed. Location is great to Subways and Time Sq but accommodations and service were below our expectation. We were excited that our room was ready early, however we were presented with a room with A/C not working, broken closet doors, and multiple carpet stains. The front desk was great and offered a new room immediately, everything worked, but still in big need of new carpet, furniture, drapes etc.. were all very worn and not very clean. The pictures on the website are definitely the timeshare rooms as the front desk advised us all the rooms were the same as the one we had. We requested a coffee maker for the room, and got answers from "we don't have a carafe for the pot""we have a machine but no coffee""your room doesn't come with a coffee maker" when one was finally located we waited until 1 am as we were told it was being brought up only to call and be told to check again in the morning. Thankfully for the housekeeping gentleman I stopped in the hall in the morning, we had a coffeemaker at 5 that night. WIFI is almost nonexistent, so asked front desk for some assistance to order tickets but they were adding on fees, so went to Starbucks and ordered online ourselves. We did take their offer of a vehicle to the airport, confirmed twice $85 including tip, arrived at JFK and Driver wanted $97 plus tip before he would release our bags. I called the Hotel immediately, and was advised that was not right and it would be looked after - have heard nothing since. Overall it was just an okay experience, second bedroom I would recommend for children, small double bed and you could not even store an adult suitcase in the bedroom. Spent some time in the lobby on the computer and plenty of requests coming in from people missing items in their rooms, one woman had waited 45 minutes for a kettle to heat her babies bottle, everyone seemed to have a service story of some kind. Unsure why there is so much staff around the lobby, they do not even hold a door open for you.
We will return to NY as we love the city, but will likely look elsewhere for something with a little more service and a little cleaner. I know 2 bdrm units are hard to find, but we may be better to just book 2 rooms elsewhere.

After a 23 hour flight from Australia we booked into our room and was surprised how roomy it was and nice and quiet, clean and tidy. With a kitchenette in the room it was easy to bring the odd meal back after a big New York day and rest. After a long day it was fantastic to go to the rooftop bar on the 33rd floor and have a few beers with a view before going out for dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful and efficient.Miguel in the bar gave friendly and cheerful service and nothing was to much trouble.Perry was always helpful with directions and grabbing cabs when required. These are the 2 people we mainly dealt with but all staff when approached were always helpful. My wife and I stayed with Wyndham 45 for a month and did not regret one second of it, a very functional and comfortable place to stay when in N.Y.C. Thanks everyone

Room Tip: Try to get a room as high as possible on the south side

The hotel is in a great location. It is in need of a major remodel. We stayed in three different rooms and each and every one had something wrong with it. Based on our understanding 75% of the hotel has been remodeled. We happen to luck out with the 25% one.

I apologize for the difficulties you had to experience during your stay. This is not our Wyndham standard. As you mentioned, we are undergoing a major remodel of all of our rooms so that this problem no longer persists. As of now, we do have units that are already remodeled and are noted at the time of booking. We hope that we will have the opportunity to change your opinion in the near future.

Best Regards,

Michael McDonnell
