The Alex was a great hotel - overall, the rooms and view were fabulous, location spectacular, and the staff was well meaning. If they had their housekeepers train their Front Desk staff on guest service, the hotel would be 5 Stars for sure!

I stayed in early June, and when I first checked in I was surprised to find that they didn't accept checks for payment (Which would be normal, however, their Reservations Manager had confirmed that they would in an email prior). Eventually, they did honor that promise, so no big deal. Little things about the Front Desk seemed "Off". I met a colleague in the lobby for a short meeting one of the days I was there, and they wouldn't let her use the restroom! I had to walk her up to my room, which was a bit annoying. They also wouldn't give recommendations for dining, other than their in-house restaurant. On the other hand, my housekeeper constantly left little notes on my bed, and changed the water in flowers in my room. The room was always spotless, and my housekeeper always had a huge smile and hello for me. She even left a note wishing me safe travels on my last day! WOW!

The room is beautiful, everything you'd need for a home in NYC for a while, with an unbeatable location, and outstanding view. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone, and will absolutely return, hopefully sooner rather than later!!

I had a small room- really tiny with no view. The sound- proofing left something to be desired, as well. Location is excellent. Room service was good. For the price, however, I Can rate This hotel only average.

The hotel was in a great location and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean. We are excited to stay at the Alex again in the future and tell all our friends about it.

Everyone was so nice and helpful. When I arrived, I was so tired and upset as they had lost my luggage. The staff at the front desk acknowledged my situation and got me checked in immediately. No sooner had I gotten to my room when a plate of fruit and cheese arrived. It was just what I needed. The next morning, after a delicious breakfast, I was directed to all the appropraite places to get some clothes to fill in and while I was out shopping, the front desk called to say that my luggage had arrived and was being sent up to my room. I breathed a sigh of relief and when I got home later in the day, not only was my luggage waiting for me but a tray of fresh fruit and cookies. What a sweet ending to what could have been a horrible trip. I will definitely go back and refer The Alex to all my friends.
