“Great Hospitality, good location...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

There is no doubt that this hotel company has a great product, the New York hotel has the kind of amenities, the level of service, and the emphasis on details that distinguish this company, but there is just one thing that not to have the reception at the street level is something that makes me feel that it does steal from it the atmosphere of a grand hotel. Granted that the building has other uses, but a Great Hotel experience starts at the entrance.
I do not think this was a fortunate decision.

“Absolutely Beautiful View!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2012

We stayed on the 50th floor - and, the view was amazing! The hotel is simply beautiful!

The housekeeping staff was excellent. The room was extremely clean! The front desk staff could've been a little warmer - but, they were very accommodating & proffesional.

Overall it was a great stay.

“Never disappoints”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2012

The Mandarin Oriental New York has never disappointed me. The rooms are divine and the service is impeccable. The rooms are warm, inviting, spotless and extremely tasteful and well-appointed. Every detail exudes "quality". The views are gorgeous and the bathrooms are always spacious and equipped with every amenity and convenience. Room service is extremely prompt: they promised our meals within 20 minutes and were never late. We had dinner at Asiate and found the staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Our meal was outstanding -- as was our whole stay. Finally, the complimentary new books to read and take home are a lovely amenity.

Room Tip: If available, request a room overlooking Central Park.

“Finest Hotel in NYC and the friendliest service - An unforgettable stay...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012 via mobile

The moment we arrived we were greeted warmly by the doorman and treated like dear old friends. He and every other staff member remembered and used our names each and every time they saw us. The food in the spledid Asiate was 5 Star and beautifully and lovingly presented. Our room was wonderfully appointed with every luxury convenience one could or would expect. This one place that truly seems to anticipate your every need.

The guest rooms all start on the 40th floor of the high rise building. Thus, each room has a wonderful view of either Central Park or the Hudson River.

Can't wait to go back!

“Possibly the best NYC luxury hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2012

A truly fantastic hotel for service, ambiance/design, location and overall quality. It is my favorite amongst all of the hotels I've stayed at in NY (both Ritz Carltons, Pierre, St. Regis, Four Seasons plus many others). The design aesthetic is relatively modern with MO's typical Asian themes. Service is impeccable. The staff must have be both selected and trained with care. The amount of small talk the staff can conjure up is quite amazing -- they somehow manage to make it feel very genuine as opposed to patronizing.

Pros:
* Design: modern with Asian influences. It feels sleek and modern, and much less "stuffy" than many of the other high-end NY properties.
* Location: Columbus Circle is fantastic if you like going out to the park, and it is attached to the Shops at Columbus Circle for easy access to shopping and dining.
* Rooms: very high quality finishings, spacious bathroom
* Views: great views of the park and/or river, particularly from higher floors
* Gym: very high-end equipment, great service, nice selection of complimentary refreshments
* Catering: fantastic food in the ballroom and conference area
* Food: Great cocktails and food in the bar and restaurant area

Cons:
* Conference staff: while attending a conference I noticed the staff that does catering and such for the conference center/ballroom seemed to have significantly less training. A simple complaint is that they were very noisy and always yelling back and forth, even when we opened the door of our room and asked them to keep quiet.
* Expensive: there is no doubt that the hotel is expensive, but the MO NYC certainly strives to make it worth the expense.

Room Tip: Higher floors have the best views
