Excellent location in walking distance to public transportation, restaurants, movie theaters, convenience stores, bars. The area is gay friendly too.
The posted check-in time is at 3pm and they were not able to accommodate an early check-in. They do offer lockers where you can pay to leave your luggage.
I am not sure why but they did give me a complimentary upgrade which was pretty cool. I paid for a shared room but was put in a single room. I never had problems accessing the shared shower or bathroom. Both facilities were clean.
Room & Linen
The room was very simple and did remind me of a dorm room/prison cell especially with the old blankets and yellow walls. There was a small sink in the room and they also had a shelving area to store your luggage. They provide an old blanket, bed sheets and a pillow (with a pillowcase). They did give me a towel which wrapped all the way around my waist so that was nice. No wash clothes or hand towels are provided. I also brought all my own toiletries including hand soap for the bathroom.
Bathroom & Shower
The bathroom and shower were tiny and in two separate rooms on the floor. Both were clean. There was no soap in the bathroom so you need to bring your own hand soap. They do have toilet paper which is a good thing.
They provide you with a "meal" ticket which you hand to a guy who gives you one bagel, one fruit and a small butter & small jelly packet. The food distribution did remind me of prison or a grade school type setting. They also offered coffee, juice, 2% milk and cereal. Again nothing to get excited about but the food was edible.
I was able to use the complimentary wi-fi in both the public area and in my room (since the room faced the courtyard common area.) I don't believe the wi-fi works in all the rooms but was lucky to have the service.
You really can't complain for the price especially compared to other lodgings in New York City.
Nothing memorable or exciting but they did provide a safe clean place to sleep and some edible food. No complaints from me and would gladly return for another visit to the city.
If you are close to the courtyard you can access the wi-fi in your room.
