“Authentic NYC hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

We stayed at the NoMad for a week and we celebrated the New Years Eve '13 there as well.
We loved everything about the hotel - location, very professional staff, room- lovely design, always clean, adjustable lighting, cosy, comfy bed and lovely bathroom/shower. The room wasn't too big but we reserved a standard double so no complaints. The best part was the food at the hotel. We had NYE dinner at the famous restaurant and it was one of the best experiences ever. The breakfast was also delicious (very important for us).
If you are a picky and a demanding client this hotel is great choice for you. We travel a lot and normally stay at 5 star hotels and this hotel had a great value. Better than many other 5 star hotels we stayed at around the world. Will be back!

I've stayed at this hotel probably 5-6 times now and its been exception every time. Beautiful clean rooms, amazing staff, great food. I highly recommend this place to all my friends. The only problem with this hotel is that it makes other hotels seem horrible by comparison. I wish there was a Nomad in every city I travel to.

3rd of 4 hotels during our 2 weeks stay in NYC. This is a beautiful hotel. If you are looking for a unique hotel which somehow manages to pull everything together without seeming as though they are trying too hard, this is it. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food is outstanding.
Only gripe is the location. There are no nice restaurants or shops, though lots of wholesale shops around which is weird.

Incredible hotel in NYC. Very well trained staff, always trying to help or assist, incredible rooms and immaculate. Bathroom/shower were well designed and top notch fixtures.

Loved the room, great bed --very comfortable place to stay overnight or for longer period of time.

Room Tip: corner rooms have great windows and view

My teenage daughter and I stayed 3 nights in August in a salon room (no. 902).

We loved it: huge room, lots of windows, great view, wonderful details and artwork, excellent food, excellent service, good location, immaculate.

For more details of our stay, read on:

Room
The room was huge (at least 400 sq. ft) with high ceilings, a wide entrance hall and 4 big windows.

There were lots of great details: rough hewn wood floor planks, black velvet sofa, pressed glass ceiling lamps, tole wastebaskets, tooled leather headboard with brass tacks, and hand-selected works of art that included vintage postcards, mounted butterflies, and an assortment of old prints including botanicals and others. The artwork arrangements, hung asymmetrically and, in some cases, really high up, were so much fun to look at!

The king bed seemed extra wide. It was extremely comfortable and the linens were soft.

The view from the room with dual aspect windows was great. Three windows faced SE with a panorama of red brick buildings, and one window faced NE with a view of the Empire State building.

Our room had a divided bathroom; on one side of the room was a toilet and sink and on the other side, a shower and sink. The shower/sink bathroom was a little small with very little counter space.

This room was absolutely quiet with no street noise.

Location
The hotel is in the flower district, not a super pretty neighborhood. But, it is close to public transportation. We usually took the no. 1 train which is a couple of long blocks away. We also walked to High Line Park, Chelsea Market, and Donut Plant. There is Maison Kitsune shop attached to the hotel where you can find French clothing, Aesop bath products, and Heeley scents.

Service
Youngish and with the cool factor. They wear a non-uniform uniform, charcoal slacks with a white button-down. Everyone at the front desk is also a concierge and can give excellent advice about where to visit/dine. Lots of enthusiasm. Diverse group. Unpretentious.

I made the reservation directly with the hotel and requested a salon room with a view of the Empire State building. My request was honored.

Housekeeping
This hotel is immaculate.

Guests
Casual and chic.

Food
We had dinner in the Atrium; lemon and king crab pasta (tangy and buttery) and their signature dessert, Milk and Honey (ice cream with freeze dried milk and honey chips).

We also had room service with the same restaurant menu. I really enjoyed the fluke starter and slow-cooked sea bass entree. The order arrived in about 10 minutes. Excellent.

Security
The lobby is dark and you share it with the MANY people who come to NoMad to eat at their restaurant. The elevators should require a key card to operate because as it is, anyone could walk in off the street and get in the elevators without being seen.

Loved my stay here! The interior design inside is fantastic. My friend and I really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were so nice, especially Mark one of the bellmen. He was very nice and knowledgable! Would love to stay here again next time I'm in the city!

Loved it, loved it, loved it! A very unique and fabulously appointed hotel in a great location. I booked through Jetsetter and then tried to change the type of room that was booked. I received conflicting info from the hotel itself and from Jetsetter. When I checked in Bry could not have been more helpful and we ended up in an amazing Grande room. One selling point of this room is the bathtub, which Bry did not tell us is out in open view. This would be a great perk when traveling with your significant other! I have stayed in many hotels in NY and The NoMad is now the top of my list.

Room Tip: The Grande is fabulous.
